So when Levi's first started to produce their jeans, they had additional rivet at the base of the fly, right along the crotch seam. Coyboys complained that as they sat in front of the fire at night, the rivet would slowly heat up and that heat would eventually be conducted to, well, I think you get the point. How is this pipe on EBay any different? Am I missing something, or is this as bad of an idea as it seems?

This metal work might not heat up if the pipe bowl walls are thick enough. But how about the pipes with a metal ring around the brim? A little metal work on a pipe goes a long way.
