    $1.4 Million Bottle of Scotch

If the market in premium Scotch is that strong and is trending up, the only thing to do is resell it and keep yourself in luxuries for the foreseeable future. If the market is trending down, prepare for bankruptcy. I think these kinds of prices are geared to people who have hit some kind of...

Are Small Bowl Briars Better for Heat and Humidity?

My oft repeated schtick, but if you want a longer smoke from a smaller chambered pipe, go with cuts like flake, coin, plug and rope. The more solid mass of tobacco burns slower and longer whatever the humidity is.

I Want to Try Hand-rolled Cigars

The selection of hand-rolled cigars is vast. What I'd like to know is, where do people buy the machine made cigars? I don't see many offered online, and when I see them, they are out of stock. I wouldn't know where in this tobacco belt city I could buy a King Edward. Not smoking right now...

    Chacom Christmas pipe

I've had good luck with Chacom and other French pipes, so I give this pipe fair consideration. I like its plain finish and what appears to me a buffed copper band. I don't need more pipes, but if I were in the market, I might look more closely.

    How Do You Deal

No one likes people who spend much of their working day shining up the bosses. On the other hand, people who never call attention to their accomplishments and hard work are, in fact, often passed over. So showcase yourself in authentic, true ways. It's part of your job and your career...

    Breaking In A New Pipe

I'm off the pack and light school. But if you love rituals -- fractions of bowls, honey coating,, codger blends, etc. -- have at it. It's fun but almost certainly unnecessary.

    🥚Can You Smoke An Egg?🤔

And I was already to share my evaluation of smoking egg shaped briars.. Oh well. I do highly recommend them, a lot of chamber for the size and weight. I have a Genod I really like. Iwan Rees has egg shapes among its house pipes ... made by Genod.

***What Are You Smoking, October 2023?***

I'm on a pipe smoking sabbatical for dental procedures and other medical considerations, however I enjoy this thread so I can enjoy good pipes and good blends vicariously. I'm spending all the money I saved during the pandemic by not going to the dentist. I've been to three different...

    Peterson My Mixture 965

You might llke to try C&D Stratfordshire. It's strong but nicely balanced, plus it comes in bulk so you can sample an ounce or two without committing to a whole tin. Also you might sample C&D Tuggle Hall, which has the unique feature of being burley baed, also in bulk. I find 965 enjoyable...

A Huge Shoutout and a Very Generous Gift from Humblepipe

I've been bowled over more than once at the generosity of the members here. It's a good big-hearted crew.

Pipe Smoking doesn't Interest me Anymore

Usually when people lose interest in something they enjoyed, they move on to something else. The fact that you are focused on your loss of interest suggests, as sable brush says, that depression is a factor. No harm in going in for a maintenance stop with a counselor who can quickly sort this...

Recommendations for Moving Away from Aromatics.

For just one suggestion, Peterson (formerly Dunhill) Mixture 965 usually pleases people and is available in a tin or as a good bulk match. Obviously, the options are vast.

    Anyone use Nasal Snuff?

P.J. O'Roark , the political journalist and satirist, was said to serve snuff at parties. Snuff's hayday was probably the 18th and 19th Centuries when elaborate snuff boxes were a rage in high society. I had enough trouble with hay fever as a child to dissuade me from putting anything in my...

Wanting a Small Chambered Pipe: Recommendations?

French pipes in general tend toward smaller chambers, though check the specifications to be sure you are getting what you want. Chacom, BC, Genod, and others. I find them uniformly beyond their price points in quality. Remember, when you want, you can get a longer smoke out of a small chamber...

    What's a "Man's Drink"?

One of the heaviest drinking men I ever knew was a binge vodka drinker. People would report him as nearly dead, then he'd go live at the beach with his folks and appear in fine new sports clothes, tanned and looking like a million bucks. He was a math mind and could compute compound interest...

    Stem replacements

If the pipe is a good smoker, I'd still spend the forty bucks or so to have a new stem cut to fit.

    Halloween Costumes Incorporating your Pipes?

Great costumes down the thread. The Tolkien grouping is classic.

Making a Blah Blend more Interesting

I don't know vape, or how you are using pipe tobacco. So I'll address this as a pipe smoker. Try cigar leaf, black Cavendish, or a single leaf Virginia or burley..

    Habeñeros

People are different, but I love a little heat when it's balanced to enhance the flavor of the food. If you can find your particular range for enjoying hot spice, it is mighty good. We have a favorite Mexican restaurant and grocery that has a mostly Mexican clientele, and they seem to get the...

    Dunhill Bruyere with Viewable Pit

Most of us learn early that Dunhill is the "best" pipe, and you really need one if you are going to smoke at all. I just never bought in. What is sublime about Dunhill is their marketing. They used to cost a little less than Kaywoodie, and neither was as expensive as today's price for a...
