Added a Nice One to My Ser Jacopo Collection

I have only one SJ, purchased new with a windfall on a written piece, on sale at SP for an amazing discount I couldn't match on an estate SJ today. It's a Dublin blast with a square shank and a squared off saddle stem, great looking and great smoking since 2013. Yours is a unique shape with...

    Most Floral Lakelands?

If you like blends without rose geranium, just remember to designate separate pipes for those, unless you enjoy the ghosts of rose geranium too.

Jim's C&D From Beyond 2023 Small Batch Review.

Thanks! I read the C&D pitch on this and wondered how it smoked. The tobaccos are selectively sourced, but it is a most traditional English blend, modeled after a vintage tin of Nightcap that Jeremy Reeves, the blender had smoked. I like the inclusion of burley with Virginia in English...

    Briar Stem

If you have quite a few pipes, however you define that,, it would probably last a long time. Any regular or intense use would probably have it gnawed away soon. If you try one, let us know how it works out.

Stain Coming Off On My Hands

That must be one of those pipes that was stained on Friday afternoon and not done just right. I've never had that experience, but it's been posted about on Forums from time to time. It would really tick me off, especially if it smokes well otherwise. I think the only fix is to either refinish...

Can u tell me which brand the pipe is and which form

Hard to tell from these photos, and since the pipes are traditional and conventional. It could be a Canadian pipe, since he was born in Montreal, Blatter and Blatter or Brigham.

Mac Baren Vanilla Cream: Flake vs Loose Cut Flavor?

I've smoked neither version, but I know cut makes a definite difference. Just that flake, coin, plug, and rope smoke slower and longer tells you you won't have the same experience with the loose version. For convenience I like loose tobacco, but if i'm deeply into a blend, and it comes in...

Another Ryan Alden Stunner for collection

The shape is classic and the grain and the stem are extraordinary. Settle back with that and enjoy the evening.

    Kudos to P&C

I've not had any major complaints. They have some good sales, and you can't beat their prices on Stanwell pipes because they are part of the same company (I think). SP is still my main source, but I don't avoid P&C.

    Shannon airport ireland.

Shannon used to be the way into Ireland, way to the west of Dublin, to route people and tourist money to the western coast. Now most flights go directly to Dublin. If there are any pipes at Shannon on offer, I doubt it.

    Pipe Filters

About health, filters take out some of the ingredients in tobacco, but you may smoke more to make up for that, bear in mind. I rarely use filters, maybe only for pipe shows or shops, where I might smoke more than usual.. I am a moderate smoker, usually a bowl a day, sometimes none.

    Single Crop Heroes

It's not single crop, but Semois is a Belgium burley variant single leaf, except for their shag cut Petit blend.

Peterson Pipe notes - Laudisi's First Five Years Summary

Seems like they refreshed and enlivened the brand, though i hope this doesn't diminish the Irish connection..

    What's Your Favorite Doughnut?

Standard glaze from Krispy Kreme with chocolate glazed a close second. I try to do these only on special occasions.

    Mules for Coon Hunting

One classic version of raccoon hunting involved neither horses or mules, nor much walking on the part of the humans, but involved the hunters sitting around a fire listening to their dogs hunt coons.. They could tell when the dogs were tracking, when they were closing in, and when they had a...

    Cavindish Or Cavindished

It is interesting that Cavendish processed tobacco is seldom if ever defined by the leaf itself. I'm a burley devotee so have never considered it a cheap or filler leaf. C&D has in so many blends illustrated that burley is right up there with other premium leaf. I've recently come to enjoy...

    Iconic Movies that Disappoint.

All I've ever seen are the clips with Jack Nicholson, so I surmise The Shining is pretty much built on one actor in a few iconic scenes. For some, that may be enough. Speaking of horror, I recently saw The Exorcist for the first time, which was much better than I expected, though not a great...

BBB Billiard Rescued From a Junk Box

What a lucky find, and a nice surprise. You revived it well.

    Halloween pipes, anyone?

Yup, that Peterson Dracula is Everyman's Halloween pipe with the black briar and blood red stem. It's a little too garish for my taste, but if I had to have a Halloween pipe, that might do. When tempted, I decided on a BC black blast with a raspberry red stem -- tasteful to me, but not...
