What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

I haven’t walked the north 20 since spring, so I wanted to get out there while the weather is still nice. I took a Cohiba Blue along. It didn’t start off well: as soon as I clipped it, the wrapper split and started unraveling. Some perfecglue seemed to hold it well enough, though. The flavor...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2024?***

Luxury Navy Flake for the Friday afternoon social hour. Every time I bring a pipe, I get positive comments; no one ever commented when I brought cigars.

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

I tried a Bland and Vile last October. Never again. I forgot that I had a tin of those Sweet Janes, though. I’ll have to move some to the top of the pile so I remember next time.

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

This evening I’m smoking a Macanudo Cafe Ascot while watching the moon rise. The draw is a little tight, but the aroma and flavor are pleasant.

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

Thanks! I’ll be sure to ask One afternoon I had a 6x60 Oliva O. My wife came outside, looked at it, and said “That just looks ridiculous.” I’m looking forward to bringing out the Texas Lancero.

Next to the Serie O, this is my favorite Oliva.

***What Are You Smoking, October 2024?***

Busy, hectic day at work, but not too busy to enjoy a flake of Sutliff 507c during the daily team meeting. Never had this tobacco before: it’s truly delightful.

***What Are You Smoking, October 2024?***

Finishing up Tuesday night’s bowl of Red Rapparee while I wait for EC2 Image Builder to finish (if you know what that is, I’m sorry) I got a third of the way into it Tuesday evening when I had to run a last-minute errand. This morning seemed like a good time to finish it up.

    The Average Pipe Smoker

To be average, I'm going to have to live to be about 175 years old. And where's my extra 115 pounds of tobacco?? At least I now have some leverage with my wife for that next SP order!

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

It’s always interesting to see the variety of small cigars you have: makes me want to track down some of them myself, someday when my stock gets low

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

Thanks! The leaves will be gone in another 1-2 weeks, so I'm enjoying them while I can. Unfortunately this one came to a bad end: I’ve never had any AF unravel like this one did. It was enjoyable until the last 2.5”, at least.

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

It’s a nice, sunny fall afternoon and a balmy 56 degrees, nice weather for working outside with a Fuente Gran Reserva churchill.

    What are You Reading Now?

I enjoy being a dinosaur too: the most electronic I'll go is a Telrad and a clock drive (I finally have a working drive, after 50 years of using a telescope, and I love it). A lot of the fun is pushing your observational abilities: anyone can do astrophotography; how many have seen M33 or the...

    Falcon Pipes

I have both the chrome and international bent stems, and prefer the chrome. The international has a plastic cover and feels kind of cheap; it also has a smaller airway, which I don’t like as much. Overall, I’m very happy with my Falcons. It always smokes cool and dry: once I was smoking a large...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2024?***

After a busy and stressful day at work, but with some actual progress and accomplishments, a Falcon bowl of Red Rapparee on a cold and breezy evening.

    TAD Acquisitions 2024

Today’s delivery: Bottom left is Sutliff 507C I wanted to stock up on Red Rapparee, and try some other Rattray’s and some other Virginias. The Steamworks, Cascadia, and Three Nuns were more or less impulse buys. The next order will aim at building up bulk tobacco stock.
