***What Are You Smoking, October 2024?***

One coin of PS402 Luxury Twist in a Falcon. Jarred since May; last time I tried it, I didn’t like it as much as Luxury Navy Flake, and that still holds true. It isn’t bad, by any means, but PS400 tastes better to me.

    That Musty Aroma

The first time I encountered what I identified as "musty" was in a Nub Cameroon; it seemed a strange note for a cigar, and I doubted my own senses, until I read a review that used the same word. I've had plenty of other Cameroon-wrapped cigars without that particular note. The only other cigar...

    What are You Reading Now?

I enjoyed City, but overall I prefer the books and stories he set in the Midwest, maybe because I grew up one state to the east. My all time favorite is still Mastodonia, which I received as a kid, and read in one afternoon in the comfy chair in our living room.

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

Congratulations: I hope that the next interview goes as well as this one! I've never tried the Opus X, but hope to some day. I saw a box at a B&M in March, but the sticker shock kept me away: $40 is too much for me to spend on one cigar.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

I tried some this afternoon, and it's quite good. I packed it tightly, but it still burned more quickly than I expected. Sometimes it left an interesting tingle on the tongue and palate; other times it was sweet and toasty. I'm looking forward to more! I'll have to try some of the other...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2024?***

One coin of Escudo went way too quickly for my taste, and the family is gone for a while, so I loaded up some Le Petit Robin in the Baraccini 673

For social hour at work, some aged Escudo (courtesy of member MCJ) in a Falcon. I’ve never tried Escudo before; I’ll definitely have it again!

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

Olivas (and Padrons, for that matter) are nice known-quanitity cigars: you know what you're going to get, no surprises. That's a nice thing when it suits you, and it's why I always keep some Serie O on hand. The only Cain I've enjoyed--and the only Nub, for that matter--is the Cain Nub Habano...

I'm enjoying the color as long as I can! The leaves will all be down soon, and it'll be all bare trees and snow, and 6 months of bad smoking weather.

    Geomagnetic Storm We Don't Need.

The aurora app started warning me already at 3:30 PM that we might get autora tonight. That immediately told me what the weather forecast would be: cloudy.

    Cigar Shapes/Sizes

I used to prefer the largest sizes I could get, because usually at the local B&M they were only a few cents more than robustos. But (and this paragraph is full of generalizations which don't always apply), I'm starting to lean toward robustos for shorter smoking times, and smaller ring gauges...

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

Same for me. My wife told me that after my funeral, she's throwing away whatever cigars are left. Since I don't know when that day will come, and since it would be a shame to leave behind any of the ones I really want to try, I smoke whatever cigar looks good to me at the moment. Enjoy them...

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

I got two of those in samplers a year ago, and smoked the first one shortly afterward. It was ok, best CT I'd had at that point, but a little too bland for me. CTs taste much better to me nowadays, so I want to try the other one soon and see whether my first impression was correct.
