    Pipe Smoking Thoughts

+1 puffy! I've been on other forums with different topics (guitar related) and even though I have 20+ years of experience there, never felt like I belonged or had anything to contribute. There was just a different feel to them. I don't know how to explain it, but just not as welcoming. Here...

    Minor Tad Attack

+1 on the Black House. I'm planning on stocking up on that one at some point too. I preferred Alamo to Bull Run, but YMMV. Like you, I wasn't a huge fan of Gettysburg. I sent most of the tin to my sister and kept just a little for when an odd mood strikes. I do like the Waterloo. For me, it...

The Breathability Of Briar Wood - What Do You Think?

My guess is that those pipes color from skin oils and ambient smoke. Wiping down with a pipe rag, too, maybe

    Question on Meerschaum "Burnout"

So it's not just the meer starting to color at the thinnest spot first? I've never had a meer burnout, but I guess more experienced meer smoker than I will have to weigh in on it.

    Annoyed With Facebook

+2 on hating FB! They are dishonest, to say the least. I have an account, but the only reason I keep it is there are some people for whom it's my only form of contact. Someday, soon probably, I'll cancel it though. Just can't stand it.

Restaining Project Gone to Dogs (pic heavy)

Ceci n'est pas une pipe?? It looks like the painting! Good job rocky. 3 girls? I feel your pain, man. I have 4! Way too much estrogen...

New Project Restoring Michael Kabik Freehand

If money isn't an issue, I agree on two stems. One fancy for you and one traditional for eventual resale.

The Breathability Of Briar Wood - What Do You Think?

I have a thought and I may be totally off base, here. I've never really studied the physics involved. However, it seems to me that once a briar pipe is broken in and developed a good cake, we are no longer smoking the briar, but the cake. So as long as the cake remains in serviceable...

    No idea where to start

+1 on the Sutliff and Frogs. I might add Hearth and Home Beverwyck. It's an old-timey blend similar to Barking Dog. Also, Lane HGL would be worth a shot and inexpensive.

    Cleaning the Kaywoodie Stinger

You're welcome, roth. You've given me a lot of tips. Glad I can return the favour.

    Cleaning the Kaywoodie Stinger

I've made a discovery today! I have a lot of Kaywoodies. A lot being a relative term, but about 15. I've always been frustrated trying to keep the ball of the stinger clean. Not anymore! While at my local dollar tree, I bought a few packs of Plackers dental brushes. They're much like a...

    My Anniversary Gift!

Happy Anniversary. You've had a good couple days, huh?

    Sad South Dakotan Piper

Just remember that however bad it is in South Dakota, it's probably worse in North Dakota. lol And not much better in Minnesota, where I am now. I like to think that growing up in ND put some backbone in me, but in recent years, cold has been colder than I remember it. I need to move...

    My Recent Ebay Binge

cigrmaster, when I started planning it, it so happened that 36 was going to hold all my pipes with room to spare. Well, I ruined that by stupidly buying more pipes. Haha! I have no idea why 12 is a common number. I'd think 7 or 14 would be more common b/c of 7 day sets.... Uberam3rica, the...

Oh, I Do Believe I Scored Big Today!

They look super petes! Your score sent me to my local antique store today, but no luck. There were couple interesting ones I may go back for. A decent looking meer and a pipe labeled Silversmith that sterling banding all around the bowl depicting hunting/fishing scenes. Have to research that...

Everyman and Savory's Revived (image heavy)

Well, I guess I stand corrected. They are restored! Thanks :D I have three Savory's now: this poker, a bent billiard, and a small bent sandblast. I haven't quite figured the sandblast out yet. I think sometimes it takes a while to figure out how a pipe likes to be smoked. I'm sure after I...

Everyman and Savory's Revived (image heavy)

Thanks! Well, I did lose a smidgen...I wasn't able to save the "S" logo on the Savory's stem. I might be able to scribe it back on, but....tricky stuff. The poker is an especially nice smoker so far. Yesterday, I took my dog for a walk and had my first bowl of H&H House of Lords. The wind...

    My Recent Ebay Binge

Thanks guys! I think my next project will have to be a combination pipe rack/tobacco closet, wardrobe type thingy. I'm thinking the doors will be similar to a fridge door for tabac and accessories, while the inside walls will be mostly devoted to racks. That will have to wait for awhile though...

Everyman and Savory's Revived (image heavy)

Just wanted to show you all a couple of my revived estate purchases. I wouldn't call them restored b/c I don't think my work is that high quality yet. But now they look like old, well taken care of pipes instead of something someone tried to use as a garden shovel. :-)
