What Pipe Would You Buy Again?

I lost a sandblasted older Stanwell horn that I was gifted. :crying: It was a dark espresso color with an oval stem. Silver banding on the stem and the Stanwell logo was also silver. I loved that pipe and it was a tremendous smoker. I've been looking for it for almost two years, so I'll...

I Would Like To Thank Hyundai....

I agree piperl12. And this may sound stupid, but, during the winter when it's snowing, smoking my helps me concentrate on staying on the road. Probably not too smart if I do crash, but there it is.

I Would Like To Thank Hyundai....

plateauguy, tell me what state you live in so I never drive there!! That's ridiculous! I agree with roadqueen and love the smell of pipe in my car. It reminds me of how my dad's old '51 Chevy grain truck smelled growing up on the farm -- all old leather and rubber and plastic falling apart...

    MM Pipe Stems

I'll chime in to praise the Forever stems also. Although, I don't have one on my cobs (b/c the cob stems don't bother me, personally), I did have Dave cut one for a replacement for my Bjarne sitter. It is SUPER comfortable in the mouth and, so far, very resistant to tooth marks. The...

I Would Like To Thank Hyundai....

I would like to thank Hyundai for taking the pipe smoking community into consideration. My lady recently bought a Hyundai and I discovered that some ingenious designer had included a pipe rest into the center console. Conveniently positioned near the shifter, but not so close you'll...

    My Recent Ebay Binge

Thanks for the comments guys! This little spending spree started a few weeks ago. I was smoking my Savory's Curzon and thinking, not for the first time, what a nice pipe it is. It was given to me about 10 years ago by my landlord, who happened to be an old lady who's late husband had smoked...

Here's my cabinet in progress. Dry-fitting the stem holders to see what height would be best. One shelf for churchwardens and long stem pipes and two shorter ones

Hemp vs Baccy at Local B&M

I agree, my friend. I think there's something about the hobby in general, and the time and patience it takes, that lends itself to gentlemen and more quality people across the spectrum of aged-ness.

Hemp vs Baccy at Local B&M

I'm one of those "younger" people, or, at least used to be. I'm 33, but have been smoking my pipe since 22. I'm not a hipster, though, just an old soul. I'd probably even prefer horses to cars. Feed 'em and exercise them and they last just as long as cars lol

What do You Carry Your Pipes In?

I use a toiletries travel bag. It has plastic pouches/sleeves that I can fit 6/7 pipes in, some net pockets I can fit tabac in and a fold-out zippered pouch for pipe cleaners and everything else. I works fantastic.

    A Winning Combination?

My pipe mentor would say that he'd save all the bits and pieces left over from a bag and mix them all together. I've only done this when in a pinch. Sometimes it's great and sometimes awful. Sometimes I'll mix stuff I like into stuff I tried and didn't really like. It's a shame to waste...

Hemp vs Baccy at Local B&M

@ rockymtnsmoker: I was to the Old Morris 7 years ago. It was maybe the best part of an Alaskan cruise. Good to know it's still there.

Can't Get Cleaner All the Way Through the Pipe

I'm not sure this is really relevant or not, but.... I've been using a trick to get pipe cleaners to pass some of my full bent stems. I'll take the flat (ungrooved) part of a needle nose pliers and flatten the first inch of the cleaner. Then it gets through pretty well. It might work for...

    My Recent Ebay Binge

They all needed a little cleaning up, oxidation and such. The Guildhall was in the worst shape, dirty and discolored. After a good cleaning and some wax it evened out and revealed some nice grain. The Sunrise was hardly smoked and I could still see wood in the bowl. Same with the Kaywoodie...

    My Recent Ebay Binge

Thanks. So far, the only one I'm not completely satisfied with is the Savory's. It's a much smaller bowl than I'm used to. My other Savory's is a really nice smoker though. I hope to be done with the cabinet by this weekend. I'll post some pics

    Salt vs. Cotton Ball?

Nice petes! Frog Morton, yummm I'll have to try cotton balls on the Kaywoodies I have coming. I assume most bowls need more than one cotton ball stuffed in them?
