I would like to thank Hyundai for taking the pipe smoking community into consideration. My lady recently bought a Hyundai and I discovered that some ingenious designer had included a pipe rest into the center console. Conveniently positioned near the shifter, but not so close you'll accidentally knock your pipe, sending ashes flying all over the front seat.

My car, who had a much less obliging design team, is constantly being dirtied no matter how hard I try to keep it clean. I admit, I haven't tried hard in a long time though. This got me thinking....What do you all do for pipes rests/cleanliness in your car?

Like roth, I do not smoke in the car. I tried it, but not only did I manage to drop ash on my person and seat, but the car wouldn't let go of the smell. Just too strong.

I'm not coordinated enough to smoke a pipe while driving, but I encourage my boyfriend to smoke his pipe in my car. The smell of pipe smoke is as the finest perfume to my olfactory senses...

Our traffic laws are so strict that the state patrol can legally ticket you for not having both hands on the wheel. That means if they are out to boost the state coffers they can ticket you for drinking a soda, eating, smoking, definately talking on the cell or texting (which I agree with). They are so money hungery that my wife actually got a ticket once for one (1) mile over the speed limit!
Good enough reason not to smoke, plus traffic is horrible and I don't want to end up with a hot pipe in my crotch.

The cavalier I drive has a nice 'pipe' slot as well. As for cleanliness... If i go to Sonic I'll get rid of any loose trash I have lying about. The place I get my oil changed at also vacuums the car so don't have to worry about that.

I love to smoke in the car. Of course my lease us about to end so I don't know how long I'll hold out from smoking in the new one

The door pocket has a rounded part for a drink holder but I keep a tin can in there.

That's super nice. I use my passenger seat. If I have a passenger (rarely) then they become a pipe holder, and depending on who they are, maybe even cleaner, tamper, packer or lighter!

I agree with roadqueen and love the smell of pipe in my car. It reminds me of how my dad's old '51 Chevy grain truck smelled growing up on the farm -- all old leather and rubber and plastic falling apart. It's not the same smell, by any means, but makes me think of it.

I've never really liked the new car smell all that much anyway. Truth be told, though, I'm pretty careful about what tabacs I smoke in the Hyundai. They are carefully selected to smell more like a high quality candle than pipe smoke.

Awesome design on Hyundi's part! I always smoke my pipe in my truck it's the only way I stay sane in traffic.

I agree piperl12. And this may sound stupid, but, during the winter when it's snowing, smoking my helps me concentrate on staying on the road. Probably not too smart if I do crash, but there it is.
