    Oom Pauls

My simple and nice Hardcastles Hallmark Oom Paul. I'm not sure if that's a canonical Oom Paul shape but it was sold as that and I like it a lot because it's a great clencher and it's not as humonguous as some other Oom Pauls I've had and sold away because their huge size made them hardly manageable.

    Humidity Disks

It's a good idea to disinfect the disk thoroughly between moving it from jar to jar. Once, I transplanted a mold infection with it from a problem moldy batch to two other jars. Since the disk is wet, it's very succeptible to mold infection. Since then, I don't use disks, I put a small vial of...

How To Repair a Crack In An Acrylic Stem?

Thanks! Great job as I can see. I'd lovely follow your advise if a 3D Print Service was easily available to me here, in the Land of Infidels where I'm residing currently. It isn't, unfortunately.

How To Repair a Crack In An Acrylic Stem?

Yes, if it was an expensive pipe I would order a custom replacement stem. However, since it's a cheap one (although a good smoker and a unique design: a very elegant cherrywood-shaped maplewood) I'm more inclined to fix it myself. The stem seems to be made of very cheap Acrylic plastic, that's...

How To Repair a Crack In An Acrylic Stem?

For a €15 pipe that looks a bit too much :)

How To Repair a Crack In An Acrylic Stem?

Thank you all for your tips! The V-shape groove for the Cyanacrilate glue to settle seems like a good option. My first idea was replacing the stem altogether but all the replacement stems available to me are thicker than the stummel and I'm pretty sure that sanding down the replacement stem to...

    Disappointed with EMP

You don't have to like Early Morning Pipe as much as most others seem to do. I'm one of those few deplorable deviants who put a low mark for Dunhill's EMP on TobaccoReviews. I acknowledge it's a fine blend, well-made and enjoyed by many, it just doesn't come along very well with my personal...

How To Repair a Crack In An Acrylic Stem?

One of my not-so-often-used pipes unexpectedly got a crack in its Acrylic straight saddle fishtail stem. The crack is hair-wide, 2 inch long, it goes lenghthwise through the saddle part, never reaching the tenon or the bit. I tried to take a pic but the crack isn't visible on it anyway, so no...

    Pipe In Nose

The red tip pic looks worrysome, like it's been blood-stained. That's great no intracranial penetration was involved. For a second, after looking at the "blood-stained" bit, I was suspecting a gory story behind it.

    Filter change?

These are not pipe filters. It's roll-your-own cigarette filters, I know them well as a former RYO cigarette smoker. You may use one just a single time because after the first smoke it would soak up and loose its shape. You would be hardly able to take it out of the shank in one piece.

    Savory Taste from Sweet Blends?

Sudden change of taste perception might also be a sign of endocrinological diseases or hormonal deficiencies. Some years back I had similar thing happened, when every tobacco suddenly tasted acrid. Prescription of Thyroidal pills quickly resolved the problem.

    No Smoking For Awhile.

Doctors will tell you to stop smoking regardless of whether tobacco has really anything to do with your illness. After my aortic valve replacement and heart bypass surgery I stopped smoking for a while. Then I deemed that psychological effects of Nicotine withdrawal and abandoning the beloved...

    Pipe cleaners

I've been using Vauen cleaners for years and was thinking they were the best. Then I tried Peterson cleaners and never looked back. They're perfect. Same stiff wire as Vauen but stiffer bristle and better absorbing fluff. I use both bristled and soft Peterson cleaners.

    Don’t Retrohale Dark Birds Eye!

Why not to retrohale it? To me, retrohaling is the proper way to smoke any tobacco. With no retrohaling I feel like I'm loosing most of aroma and flavour. I like to inhale Dark Birds Eye from time to time, to get that tickling "throathit" sensation which I find very pleasant. Saying this, I...

Why Algerian Briar was Highly Regarded

Right now, I'm smoking exactly the same pipe as pictured here. Actually, it was because of the pipe I searched for "Algerian Briar" on the forum and found this informative thread. The pipe is "Roger's Capri, Algerian Briar, Italy". A rare Student shape, a wider-than-usual drawhoile. A cheap and...

Peterson lighter is pretty darn good!

Flints from different brands aren't equal for sure. For example, Zippo flints are noticeably softer than IM Corona's. They seem to produce more sparks and don't last as long Even being soft, Zippo flints managed to dull my sparkwheel in 3 years. I haven't heard of similar problem with Old Boy...

Peterson lighter is pretty darn good!

I have a Peterson pipe lighter and absolutely love it. I refill it with Clipper butane (Zippo butane turned out to be very dirty and sooty) and use Zippo flints. However, after my 3.5 years of use the striking wheel got dulled. I switched to IM Corona flints and put a stronger spring into the...

    Pipe Bits Necessary?

Softy stem bits... Ewww, perfect pockets for all sorts of bacteria unless you disinfect and dry them after each use.

    Sorry Dunhill, I don’t get you…

I totally agree. But I'm sure I wouldn't if I had one. It's not about pipes. It's about the sence of belonging.

    Stinger

That's what the real men say on the subject! 👍 My opinion is that not everyone needs a stinger, still some do need it, so it's better to have it as an easy removale-reinstallable option. Most smokers probably just don't notice the difference, but some of those with more sensitive mouth...
