    Antique Pipe

Great bit of sleuthing. I loved the trivia about the German ships. It's wonderful when a simple thing like smoking a pipe can connect us with the past.

Made My Own Pipe in Denmark

Turned out beautiful! I love the wood ring on the stem and the light color of the pipe. At picture 6 it didn't look like much, but at picture 7 I could tell it was going to come out nice.

Free Pipe Tobacco Sample - Altadis

Thanks - it was such a nice evening, I just had to share the details. Regarding the tobacco, I had ordered it from the Altadis number. I was a little confuzzeled too, but I went to the Altadis website and read that Sutliff is a sub-brand. "In the true tradition of providing the market the best...

Free Pipe Tobacco Sample - Altadis

My First Impressions of Altadis Maple Street The 1.5 oz tin doesn't say Altadis but rather Sutliff Private Stock. It reads "Quality Mixture with Flavorful Maple & Old Rum" on the front. When I cracked it open and took a whiff, I caught a light maple and golden rum scent. After several more...

i am doing the pee pee dance

I picked up a tin of Chelsea Morning after reading Kevin's review and like it alot. I'm new to Latakia and more of an aromatics guy, but it was well balanced, flavorful and interesting. I read the review again after smoking it - helped me appreciate it even more.

    Pipe Lighter Pros, Cons, Recommendations

That is pretty swanky, menckenite - if the Old Boy is the Cadillac of pipe lighters, that must be the Corvette.

    Pipe Lighter Pros, Cons, Recommendations

Sure thing - let us know how you like it. I'm especially interested in how well it holds up over time, but it does have a lifetime warranty.

    Pipe Lighter Pros, Cons, Recommendations

cortezattic - I've narrowed it down to those 3 or the Zippo. I'm leaning toward the Beattie Jet because it has character and it's unusual, but the Old Boy design is really classy, even if it is a knockoff. My priority is buying tobacco, but I'll be sure to write a review after I get around to...

    Pipe Lighter Pros, Cons, Recommendations

I thought these were worth sharing... 1. Old Boy knockoff $20 "Monarch Flint Pipe Lighter" 2. Old Boy knockoff #2 - $18 "Nibo Pipe Lighter" 3. Beattie Jet Lighter - A classic! I love how you tilt this to get a pipe flame. You can find these on eBay for $10-$20.

    Ever ghost a pipe?

Dave, I had the ash tray odor in my pipe too. This might sound weird, but I took some baking soda, put it in a tea bag, rolled it up and put it in the bowl of the pipe for a week. The smell did seem to improve, at least to my wife's nose. There are other ways I've read about in the forums that...

Welcome New Members. Introduce Yourself. (2)

Hi Dave, one thing to consider is getting a low-cost used (estate) pipe off of ebay. Sometimes they can be had for under $10, of course those will need a little work. A little fine sanding and tung oil and you can make those dogs look really good. There is also a technique for refreshing the...
