    Thoughts on Smoking Indoors

I have memories of my parents ushering me to the non smoking section upon entering a restaurant.... I couldn't tell you when smoking sections of restaurants ceased to be, but I must say I like the idea. I started smoking in my library this winter, and I intend to give the walls and ceiling a...

    Reading Blends

I've taken to straight(ish) Virginias recently, in a clay pipe. The mellow sweetness of such blends is enjoyable but nondescript, I've found. Union Square and Marlin Flake have made their rounds recently. Also, if you like Lakelands, I enjoy those too. They make my library smell nice

    English Blend for Beginners

Sillem's (now John Aylesbury's) Black comes to mind. Edit: But I wouldn't start there as it's a far cry from would I hope to experience from a traditional English, although it is tasty in its own right.

    English Blend for Beginners

Presbyterian Mixture is the go-to in my book. It's mild, and fairly inexpensive as well, compared to most tins. It also is simply a fine mixture that displays (in a modest way) the complexity that English pipe blends are capable of.

Estervals and Shipping to the US

Another foreign website that I did not know was accessible to me. More and more possibilities.

    Pipe Smoking and Mental Health

There is an oft-quoted statistic that those who smoke 1-2 bowls a week have a slightly longer life-expectancy than non-smokers. I've always attributed this to the fact that people who can and do take a little bit of time out of their week to experience the ritual of pipe smoking likely have less...

    B&M Etiquette

One would go in and use the amenities to smoke, no? Another good rule of thumb would be to always smoke what you have purchased there. I work at a coffeeshop with lots of seating, and we don't mind if somebody hangs out for awhile on a single mug of coffee (we'll even refill it for them)...

    Questions About Synjeco

Uh.... I was 18 or 19 when that picture was taken, before the age increased to 21? I'm 24 now.

    Questions About Synjeco

Oof, that's rough. I'd be interested to know what his response is, and how this resolves.

    Questions About Synjeco

Any recommendations on shipping method, or other hard-to-find things available there that I should know about? It seems most everything else on the site is readily available in the US.

    Questions About Synjeco

Thank you all for your help! As an amateur lakeland fan, this is very encouraging! They'll be hearing from me as soon as I can build my tobacco budget back up!

    Questions About Synjeco

Update: I just found the section on their website where they describe their ordering process. They take Amex and claim that the FDA does not regulate pipe tobacco shipments. This is all well and good but I would still like to know whether anybody has experience with them.

    Questions About Synjeco

Hi all, it's been awhile. I've been mulling around the internet, learning about new tobaccos, and heard of a blend I'd like to try (Samuel Gawith RB Plug, to be specific). However, this blend seems not make it across the Atlantic by the usual channels, but I stumbled on a company called Synjeco...

    Trouble with Staining

Thanks for your responses! I haven't had time to do any staining but i will employ your advice. My major takeaways: -Don't polish before sanding, let the buffer do that for me afterwards -Stain & flame several times, wiping with a cloth in between (I wasn't wiping before) -Let sit over night...
