I watched it till people's skins started falling off in a gooey mess, and that was all I could take. If it had more sex and actual violence instead of just weird gore, I'd have stuck with it. But, I am happy that they won so many awards for it. That's great.
No television here, plus I work too much to sit and watch one anyway.
Great that you read to her. You’re absolutely right. Reading to a child helps them immensely in many ways, making them more articulate and intelligent.

That's awesome. One of my favorite kind of deranged children's books is Uncle Shelby's ABZ Book by Shell Silverstein.
I would move up to The Hobbit next. Not only is it a great story but it is totally 'woke' since you have Vertically Challenged Persons or Dwarfs as well as Fairies and Hobbits so that covers the whole LGBT spectrum. It involves countries without borders and an evil dragon. Totally 21st century.
I didn't have access to deranged children's books as a kid. We had to use our imaginations to drum up our own derangement... and Tinker Toys. 
I love those.
Most of our entertainment was gasoline, potato guns, and firecrackers.
You "woke" folks will be glad to know that at the end of Peter and the Wolf that instead of the hunters dispatching the big bad wolf with a fusillade of gun fire, they now take him to the zoo.
