This is an interesting list, all 42 films that garnered all of the Big Five Oscar nominations.

Hi Al,
Very interesting list! Several of my favorite films are on it, such as It Happened One Night, Sunset Boulevard, and The Graduate. But it also lists one of my least favorite films, The English Patient, which I found to be shallow, witless and boring.

So many movies that could go on this list. Five just doesnt leave enough room. My taste in movies runs from "Sit down, you have to see this classic." to "yeah, I know, dont judge me."
Since I am over here in Afghanistan supporting the war effort I believe I will give my top 5 War movies.
1. The Longest Day - Super move with a HUGE list of A-List actors for the time.

2. We were Soldiers - Great book and an Amazing movie. As a retired Army guy this chokes me up every time.

3. The Great Escape - Another All Star cast. Plus Steve McQueen doing his own stunts.

4. Brige on the River Kwai - Showing the strength of the Allied POWs in adversity

5. Battle of the Bulge - US troops snatching victory out of the jaws of defeat. oh and also "NUTS"
I could give a top 5 in all kinds of genres. I tend to watch a lot of movies it seems.

Got to admit, I'm happy to see so much love for 60s-70s-80s war films here. They're my favourites but my mrs thinks I'm mad.

Dawn of the Dead (the Romero original, not the remake with the erroneous "fast zombie" model of zombie dynamics)

The Ghost and the Darkness
Honourable mentions to Apocalypse Now, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Big Trouble in Little China, Hero and Blade Runner.
