Going to put a end date, all before and after pics must be turned in by Oct.15. Restore as many as you want put only one pipe for final entry. That's a whole month so it should give people plenty of time.
I will try to put final pics on a desperate thread so people can vote.
I'm not sure what we're voting for other than bragging rights but it's fun. If it's possible could someone add the end date of the contest to my first post in rules.

I'd go up against Dave if he was handicapped: One hand tied behind his back; work in complete darkness; and had to make his own sandpaper.....

Guys I've got some pretty cool news on our little showdown. I contacted Grabow and told them what we were doing. The Vice President is donating a Collectors Dr. Grabow to the winner. I'll post pics as soon as I get them.

Great pipes, always have a few dozen or more. It's not trashed but this Westbrook was next in line to clean.

Ok, so went through my box of estate pipes and found two Dr Grabows to work on. The Starfire is a mess and is going to be interesting. The other is Westbrook and is in much better condition.

Found a pipe and will be picking it up Sunday, I'll post pics then. I've been told it's in slightly rough shape, which coming from the guy it is it could be anywhere from "there's bite marks and excessive cake" to "I accidentally sanded the left side of the bowl off".

So, what is the significance of the color of the spade... other than color? I saw a blue one on ebay too.

Certain colors are for different models and different eras. Orange spades are only on the Westbrook model. Yellow is the Lark model. Blue spades are filter pipes. Black and silver spades are among the rarest. Im still looking for a red and silver.

"Blue spades are filter pipes"
Blue spade was used on all Duke filter pipes until 93/94. Also the Golden and Silver Duke had white spades and were filtered, think that had to due with them being ajusto and not push stem.

The GooRoo torch has been passed, like it or not
I do have a passion for these old Linkman's and Grabow's, but my knowledge and history of the brand pales in comparison to the late great SouthPaw.
