Started David McCullough's Truman (1992) Monday - I think I passed 20 percent lol. It's a dictionary, but the pages are turning. WWI artillery officer - right now he's the Senator from Missouri. Fascinating read. I really liked McCullough's The Wright Brothers and Brave Companions: Portraits in History. Pioneers was good also.

Having lived in South Georgia for most of my young life, this book always pissed me off for its truth. Most novels rarely approach reality. I have spent a good part of my professional life fighting against rattlesnake roundups. And cock- and dog-fighting rings are always where you least expect to find them and a sure sign that you need to haul ass in the opposite direction.
