Just finishing "War and Peace," (not that one!) by Nigel Hamilton. It is the third book in his trilogy about FDR's role as Commander in Chief during WW II. Couldn't put any of them down.

Crusaders by Dan Jones. Colorful and anecdotal history of the Crusades. His book on the Plantagenets (Henry ll, Richard lionheart, Eleanor, Becket etc.) Was really great and highly recommended. He paints history with fine detail and very vivid color.

I just finished Phillip Pullman's newest, The Secret Commonwealth. I was surprised by how much pipesmoking was in it, so I went back and started rereading the first books of His Dark Materials. I wasn't smoking pipes when I first read these, so I will pay more attention this go around. Plus, I am looking forward to watching the new series made from these.

Wild Nights: How Taming Sleep Created Our Restless World, by Benjamin Reiss. It's an interesting read so far.
