Tip I learned A Few Years Ago. 3-31-24

A guy asked me what I was doing, and he didn't know this. So I thought maybe I'd share it here. If you purge your cigar with your flame near the foot. It will catch fire, at the foot. Remove the lighter and continue to purge hard until the flame finally goes out. It can drastically improve...

    Advice for Rustication Bits

I want to buy some rotary bits that can make a nice deep chunky rustication but no clue which ones to buy. What I have now are what came with my rotary, I believe diamond. I'm worried if I press too hard on those they'll snap. Maybe I'm wrong and I can use what I already have. Some advice...

    lol What Happened? 2/19/24

I was smoking some S. &. G 1792, when I ashed the bowl and with the ash the whole thing fell out in a coned piped shape still lit. I picked it up and dropped it back in the bowl continued my smoke. I didn't even dump it hard I just stirred the loose ash then lightly turned it upside down and...

    Staining a Pipe 2/13/24

So I sanded this old estate pipe and stained it with Fiebings Medium Brown leather dye. As you can see, one side looks completely different. I've stained several pipes successfully so I'm not sure what I've done wrong. I tried using a more aggressive grit on the dull side then a wire brush...

What Rotary Tool to Buy? 2/1/24

I want to buy a rotary to buff, and rusticate. The plan is to buy very cheap beat up briar estate pipes and fix them, then customize them to my own liking. Question is; for what I'm doing, what speed rotary should I buy? Is 1200 rpms too little or is 35000 too much? Thanks

    Pipe Identification 1/30/24

It just says "Imported Briar". It's 5.5 inches long. Looks brand new even the stem despite the pics. I doubt it's vintage. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Unique Pipe 1/24/24

Got this in an estate lot. There was also a dragon Meershaum but unfortunately the shank was cracked.

    Pipe Identification 1/20/24

I got this pipe in a lot. It's not the pipe I actually was wanting, but I've quickly fallen in love with it. I would like to know more about the company and history behind it. I've tried researching it. Mainly all I get is Tigre pipes from Sav. which I'm pretty sure it is not. Thanks.

    Koolaid and a Pipe

lol I didn't know where to put this because I didn't want anyone to go to pipe repair and try this. Although I'm sure someone already has. Experimented with Koolaid as a dye solution when I was making my son Koolaid and couldn't get the red stain off my hands. I just wanted to see how it...

    Crooked Stem 1-17-24

I'm debating an estate pipe. It has a screw on stem. The guy says that the stem when screwed tight is crooked. It's Meershaum. Anyone know how I could fix that? Thanks

Cleaned Up An Ebay Pipe 1-3-24

Took a chance on a 10 dollar Dr. Grabow Grand Duke. Stem was stuck, fixed that, scraped off the rest of the finish. I used water to stain the outside of the bowl after I did a salt cleaning inside. Then Waxed it. I was shocked at how good a water stain looks. Thought I'd share it.

    Sharping a Punch Cutter. 12-1-23

I'm going to sharpen my punch cutter, but I'm unsure the best route. I'm either going to buy a rat tail, a diamond sharpener, or a bullet prep multi tool. Anyone know which would work best? Or, if you have another suggestion. Thanks.

    Tin Storage Idea

I'm sure some of you already thought of this. But, if you're running out of room like me and need a cheap solution to still display your tins, the magnetic strips for tools or kitchen knives works great. Just thought I'd share, maybe it will be beneficial to someone. Here's a pic of the...

    Easy Pin Hole Repair

So I think maybe March (not sure) I posted about a T. Cristiano pipe that had a few pin holes in the shank. I got a lot of great suggestions, but a lot of them required some wood working knowledge or tools I don't have. So I thought about it and I ended up stuffing the shank with pipe...

    Tobacco Cake Maker

Some probably already know this, but noodle makers can make tobacco cakes. Thought I'd share for those who want to and don't know how.

    DIY Topping

Wondering if anyone has tried to add a topping. I've tried infusing/flavoring cigars before and its always a fail. Never tried with pipe tobacco though. I'd like to make a really strong tequila blend. Anyone been successful doing it? And I know you can buy blending kits.
