Infographic: Choosing a pipe tobacco     February 19th, 2014

It might surprise you to learn that infographics have been around for centuries. They seem like a more modern phenomenon because they have proliferated in recent years through social media with the help of infographic generators. With them being all over the place, it’s only fitting to have an infographic for the pipe tobacco world. Ethan Brandt has been an occasional contributor to PipesMagazine.com, and he was kind enough to provide us with a well-thought-out infographic on helping you choose a pipe tobacco. It’s informational and entertaining. Click on the image for a much larger version.

Great idea, very cool! However, there should be a warning for new pipers that choose the path to Penzance that they may be entering a loop of non-stop searching from which they may never escape…

Nice idea. In a way, it reminds me of the organizational scheme used to categorize tobacco genres on the home page of LuxuryTobaccoReviews (.com) That’s always so helpful for beginners who find themselves lost in the bewildering abundance of blends and tobacco types.

    It’s called a “decision tree.”

Infographic? Only in the very loosest sense, and really the wrong term. Infographics are intended to convey information in a way that those accustomed to having things explained to them via puppets and crayons can grasp. Not to outline choices based upon status or response.

But nicely done for those seeking a logical path!
