About 2 1/2 years ago, I began with a tin of John Cotton's #1 and a tiny Baraccini "Pocket" pipe.
An RYO Pipecut Turkish blend, meant to simulate Camels... in a Savinelli Piuma dublin. I still keep some of that pipecut tobacco in the cellar, because it's a pretty tasty tobacco. It helped me quit the sticks.

About 8 months ago at the annual "brothers' retreat" with, of course, my brother. We need to schedule these or we never see each other. We stumbled on to a pipe store where I purchased a basket pipe that was made in Italy (no other markings) and the guy at the counter hooked me up with a mellow English blend. I have been hooked ever since. However, I did gift that pipe to a friend since then...
1980 - I was in high school. I bought a pipe and I think it was Captain Black Cherry as a kit from a drug store when I was in getting some Swisher Sweets. Pure impulse buy. Smoked maybe three bowls and burned the crap out of my tongue. Didn't pick up another pipe until about 2 years ago.
I was also in high school in 1980. I am not the only old guy around here. Sweet!

It was late 1996 and I was gifted a Lane aromatic mix, so I went out and bought this Imported Briar billiard.
No more Lane aromatics for me, but the pipe is just about the most dependable smoker it own. Not the best grain, but it’s awesome wood.

It's actually a great little nosewarmer, if I'm not mistaken they've been in production since the mid-50's. Made by the Dutch.
