As someone who does not like Latakia and feels like it easily overwhelms blends, I was impressed with Palmetto Balkan.
I'm starting to think that's a characteristic of Cyprian. In the days of Syrian, it blended well with the other components without being center stage. As someone who does not like Latakia and feels like it easily overwhelms blends, I was impressed with Palmetto Balkan.
I think this is true, it seems to me one could get away with using a heavier hand with syrian. For me cyprian makes plenty of impact when used condimentally.I'm starting to think that's a characteristic of Cyprian. Wait a few years.
I also tried Blockade Runner for the first time this year and was very pleasantly surprised. The rum’s level of influence was perfect.I tried a few blends this year that I really enjoyed.
Cornell and Diehl Blockade Runner
Gawith Jubilee Blend
Gawith Summer Reserve
Gawith Mahogany
Gawith Dark XX Plug.
I finally got my hands on some Mick McQuaide Plug and it's got the added bonus of being 12 years old. Really wish they still made it
Yeah, when I opened the tin the smell was divine. It'd been in the cellar for about 5 years and the tin was swoll .I also tried Blockade Runner for the first time this year and was very pleasantly surprised. The rum’s level of influence was perfect.
I have some Mick McQuaid on the way myself! Very excited to try it.
Sounds like you got a bad one. I left a tin open a few years ago and kept smelling candied apples in the house.Well, the tin of Haddos had ten years on it. I was thinking of cellaring it so I splurged on a ten year old tin.
Obviously I have no clue how it was cellared or stored but it was garbage. Smoked two bowls and fed the circular filing cabinet.
That one reminded me of SWRA. Not a bad thing BTW.eight state burley was fantastic. i'll probably pop another tin soon.
I could totally see that. Another one I'm really enjoying is we three kings. As someone who doesn't generally smoke aromatics I've surprised at how much I like it. The ginger and the allspice in the topping really come through. That one reminded me of SWRA. Not a bad thing BTW.
Careful, that could be a first step to delinquency! I love aromatics now but it took years to figure them out.As someone who doesn't generally smoke aromatics
