I've got some pretty good information from you generous folks so far and I really appreciate it! I'm hoping to keep this thread active and growing for a bit to gain as much information as possible.

I've got a fun graphic representation of the stats so far, but with anything pipe relaated, more is better!
___________
Years of pipe smoking is at your discretion and how you personally define it.
Number of pipes is the number of smokeable pipes (even if they are unsmoked displays, cheapos or horrid smokers)
Number of Tobaccos is two fold.
1. # of different tobaccos, excluding multples of the same
2. # of vessels of tobacco in your collection/cellar

Pipes and tobacco counts are what you currently have on hand in your personal collection (or incoming the mail).

For me its:
18 years;
22.5 pipes (half pipe is an extra bowl for the Falcon);
25 blends in;
39 vessels (tins/pouches/jars etc)

Your turn!

I have kept a spreadsheet going since the beginning. I went crazy for the first 6 months with TAD making up for lost time. I got really lucky making a couple friends that helped me get the hard to acquire & out-of-production stuff. My favorite blends are the lines of Plum Pudding and variants of it, Nepenthe from Ravenwood, Stimulus Package, GH Dark Flake Unscented, ASTB, Stonehaven, FM On the Town, and Brown Irish X

1 year smoking pipes
9 pipes
103 Blends
172 vessels

4 years smoking
6 pipes (2 briars, 3 cobs, 1 clay)
3 Blends (4 until yesterday when I exhausted one)
3 vessels
~ 7-8 ounces of tobacco

There were some upticks and lulls over the first few years. Also for the first almost two and a half years I smoked basically only three blends out of a cob from a little cigar focused B&M that was walking distance from my house and work. They sold maybe 8 or 10 blends total, I'm sure all off the shelf stuff that they just rebranded. I would walk over there and buy like an ounce or two at a time, not even sure what I was really getting, and rotating between these three blends one that I now recognize as Luxury Bullseye Flake, some unknown-to-me house English blend, and lastly what I suspect was Lane 1Q. Only joined this forum the other day because I hit a year of having given up all other tobacco products besides pipe and the occasional cigar. Decided this is something that will stick and I want to start acquiring a few more pipes and building a little cellar. So far I've sampled maybe max 25 blends total. I'm really just at the beginning of my journey to figure out what I like.

I have smoked 46 years.
For around 20 of those years I smoked cigars almost exclusively.
I went back to the pipe about 8 years ago.

I have not taken inventory in a while, so these numbers are approximate:
Pipes - 30+
Blends - around 200
Jars - over 100
I have never calculated the weight of my collection.

With the pile of tobaccos I have built up, defining it by number of blends and "vessels" is a fool's errand.

I forgot to mention the Sam Gawith and Gawith Hoggarth & Co pile, the Sutliff Cringle Flake pile, the KBV pile, as well as some Murray's, A & C Petersen Escudo, real Escudo, not that abomination that STG squirts out, Pfeiffen Huber Virginia Golden Flake, which and only be bought from their store in Munich. Oh yeah, almost forgot the collection of Periques that Mark Ryan gifted me, a couple tubs of the now 20+ year old special Perique, and a selection of private limited edition blends, including a batch of Rougaroux made with McClelland blending tobaccos. I think that mostly covers it.

Well, since this is for science, here's my input:

30 years;
10 pipes;
15 blends in;
16 vessels (tins/pouches/jars etc)

Thats awesome. There's nothing better than a good network of hook-ups to help procure the good stuff!

Awesome! What is the app you have there, I think my nerd side may be missing out!
It's one I made... er am making. It's not done, just the core functionality (right now trying to get the UI set before working on stats feature beyond what I put there). Probably won't be done for a while, will never be cross-platform (will be Android only), likely won't even be for devices other than phones (like, not for tablets).

I'm not a developer, just wanted something that didn't exist so I learned enough to (slowly) make it myself.

6 months smoking pipes
16 pipes (8 cobs)
72 unique blends, about 50% untried
4 pouches, 17 unopened tins, 26 jars (some containing a single blend, some containing multiple bulk bags)
Total weight is maybe 3-4 pounds.

I don't really have plans to buy more pipes, though I'd like to get a meer someday.

As for TAD, though, I was going to stop purchases or only buy bulk, but have decided to start acquiring a few tins each month, both for longer-term cellaring, and prepping for the day when the bureaucratic branch of the government decides that we're no longer allowed to buy it. Hmmm, it sounds a little crazy when I put it that way, but it lets me justify buying more ;)

We never close that door. I don't need/plan to buy more but....

I switched to bulk for awhile, but I stared missing the look and feel of a good old tin. They really can't be beat.

You'd be crazy not to buy it up at that point!

Oh yeah, one day my wife will say, "Hey, [special occasion] is coming up: what do you want?" That's how I ended up with a fancy Boswell for Father's Day. Plus I wanted one anyway.

It'll be a case-by-case basis. I'll happily buy a bunch of bulk Luxury Navy Flake or Red Rapparee and jar it up to save money (for more TAD), but tins really hit the spot too. I'd rather that my tobacco supply outlasts me, than vice-versa.
