Very much a guesstimate 🤔

@15 years 1970-1985
Returned to pipes in 2018

@25 pipes in the 1st period
Now ??200 pipes

>100 different blends (I’m still in the process of working out my favourite blends)

>100 tins - I have multiples of only a handful of blends.

Due to the exhorbitant cost of tobacco in Oz, I don’t want to stockpile only to find I’ve lost the taste for that tobacco.

I have a weird habit of gorging myself on something that takes my fancy for some months, then find I can no longer stomach that for years after 🤢

Ive smoked a pipe for I guess about 12 years, but....
I smoked from 2005-2017....then restarted Spring 2024.
I have over 100 pipes...many unrestored estates.
When I restarted this Spring I had approximately 60 pounds of tobacco in many dozens of 4 ounce jars and tins. And a few bigger jars (1/2 pint) from the early days when I didn't know better.
I have not bought any tobacco sinse 2019. I THOUGHT I was going to start again then....but a few more years past. :)

Started in 85' and still going. Late to the cellar game but I would have 40+ blends, 300+ tins and 50+ pounds in mylar so closing in on 100 pounds of tobacco. Pipes have come and gone and I'm pretty settled now with my Castello's and a few others, maybe 20 pipes or so.

Scary thing for me is if I convert all my tobacco to Australian purchase prices at $150/tin there is $120,000 worth of tobacco sitting in my cellar. I didn't pay that of course as I sourced overseas but I could get that on the Aussie market as it currently stands. Blows my mind 🤯 but also makes me very 🤬 that a government can do such a thing with taxation.

19 years of pipe smoking.
62 pipes currently in rotation.
Guessing 60-70 open jars of various sizes (ranging from very large to very small) for ready smoking.
Again guessing maybe 200 or so tins (ranging from 2oz - 8oz). A very large bin full that i try not to exceed, but it's to the tippy top, which is the only thing stopping me from more purchasing at the moment. :)

Where EXACTLY do you live in Australia? jk 😜

As a Canadian, I feel your pain on the tax front. Wild. Lucky us though, the US is just a road trip away. I imagine shipping to Australia is killer too?

Not counting years ago when I wanted to pick it up but couldn't afford to back then (and just dabbled with the pipes of a guy I went to school with, then dabbled here and there over the years), just counting when I got serious...

- 3 years
- 13 pipes
- 116 unique blends in stock
- 117 total quantity ("in vessels" or whatever, I keep stuff in original tins and/or don't split it up, apparently only 1 duplicate at the moment, and I don't buy bulk, just tins).

Bonus stats...

Down the end of a lonely country road that more than a fair share of thieves have gone missing on and been buried in the hills. How do I know this, still got the shovel.

Everything to do with tobacco in Australia is painful. I'm surprised our tobacco stocks aren't catalogued and need to hold a smokers licence, its nearly that bad here.
