@simong recommends I get some twist or plug to smoke in my clay pipes for an authentic 17th century smoke...
Would be good to get my clay pipe lit from the blacksmith's forge again!

Out of curiosity, what is considered a good time in terms of a fast smoke? I'm trying to get a sense of @halfdan 's forty seconds mentioned earlier. Is there a documented speed record somewhere?

@Flatfish @The Amish Tyrant @Chasing Embers It was the mention of slow smoking competitions & @brian64 mentioned fast smoking; I'd like to beat my best times for both but a lot of it depends on the size of the bowl and the tobacco...
I could almost smell all that pipe smoke - and some of it will be mine if I took part. How much of it do you think would be mine???
One of the trees I helped plant is named "Clay King" in my honour and because it's in a very sticky (due to heavy rain in the weeks before the tree
planting); the Clay King got bogged down in his favourite pipe material

@brian64 I lost contact with the event team and nothing online about it...
They may have seen this thread and have gone into hiding.
@brian64 I notice the Condor packet when they're handing out the clay pipes; I can almost smell all that pipe smoke...

Maybe the event organisers are following this thread and feel it wouldn't be fair on the other contestants if I took part...
Need to make sure I don't smoke all my tobacco and have none for the Pirate Mutiny & Redcoats events
Some forum members say I should be smoking twist & plug at re-enactments...
