Soon some Hollywood type wearing a $250K wristwatch, $7K shoes, $12K wool jacket, and sporting a $500 haircut---who is on his way from one of his dozen homes (a 90K sq foot castle in Switzerland on this occasion) to New Zealand for a cocktail party in his $75 million G700---will look into a news camera and tell the world that Amou was a low-carbon-footprint role model, and everyone should aspire toward living such a lifestyle.

Alec Baldwin would likely claim he would have done the guy a favor had he accidentally shot him.

Get your facts right bro. We don’t wear shoes in NZ. Not even to a cocktail party. Unless you are referring to fancy gum boots or something, then that’s aight I guess

There is, and should be a great deal of deference allowed each of us to be eccentric.

But for any government to be aware of a child of God to live like an animal, not bathe, and eat rotten food without intervention is barbarous, not to mention a violation of everything Christ ever taught.

The old saying was you can judge the civilization of a society by how they treat prisoners in prison also applies to how they treat a tramp on the street.

Would they have allowed an innocent and helpless child to live that way?

He obviously had some childhood trauma which made him want to switch off from society.
It might be a mental ilness. But I'm all for the possibility that it was a concious decicion. Not every hermit is mentally challenged, some are just so inclined, or philosophically convinced.
