Lol. Well if you like the one headed to your place, you know how to get another one made. :)
By the way, scrooge has seen pictures and he thinks you'll love it.

OK so clickklick encouraged me to post up some pics of my wood n bamboo. Its football today so a perfect time for me to get the pipe started. Watch the game, work on the pipe during the commercials and give me time to think about whats going on. I am sure clickklick will be done before me. I will actually make at least one if not 2 practice bowls before getting into the good wood. I have plenty of cheap reject wood to wrap my head around the whole thing and see how to approach the pipe. This is really pushing my skills to the limits. That is also part of my reason for procrastinating on getting this going. But got to start sometime. I have another 25 blocks of really nice wood on the way so not sure what I will be using. Blocks of this quality are between $20-$35 and can hit up to $70+ on really high grade blocks, part of the reason I start with 2nds, making mistakes with good wood can add up $$$$ wise fast. So to comply with CK's request.........wood n bamboo porn

Alright so I botched it! I was trying to get a clean line at the briar to bamboo junction and the acrylic ring chunked out. I think I can salvage it but only get one more try. I am going with a skinnier piece of bamboo that still works with the shank. I've mounted the skinnier side towards the shank which most would say is wrong, but the reason is twofold. 1, I think it adds a danish inspired flare, 2. Mostly the real reason is because I couldn't fit my delrin mortise sleeve in the skinny end and I only have one bamboo rod that will work, and this is it. So let me know what you think. If you guys think it sucks with the look of this bamboo, I'll keep it for a shop pipe and start over.
We went from a 4 knuckle straight, to a 6 knuckle curvy.

After a long sinus infection I finally got back to it. Fitted the shank to the bamboo. Is pretty flush, the curves could have flowed better, but this is my first real try at bamboo, so I'm happy with it overall.

The funny thing is I'll probably have to put as much time into the stem as I have on the whole pipe so far!

CK this is funny. We are both working on a EF for the same member and I just got on antibiotics friday as I to have been fighting a sinus infection. Really screwed up the pipe making for the last week. Starting to feel better and have some catching up to do.

Maybe it's a curse! Curse of the elephant's foot!
I worked a bit more today. Getting the bamboo flush on the stem end is near impossible. I did what I could, cut and faced an acrylic band for the Stem side and epoxied it in place. It is drying right now. I'll have a picture later. I'm daring to shape it after epoxying it. Don't know how else to do it though. Once it's dry I can figure out how long of a stem it needs and start work on that.

That stem shouts out "date night"
Nice work. Looks like you're starting out with really high quality materials.
