As you can see, the lettering on the stamping seems to be double stamped or definitely messed up
I've had many brand new Peterson's with wonky stamping. Sometimes looks half sanded off, sometimes double stamped, etc. Not unusual in the slightest.

This is one instance where the fake is likely better than the real thing!!!!I just faked reading this thread.
Someone posted for sale a pipe with a white dot stem, stamped only "Not for Sale." Briarlee bought it and thinks it's a real Dunhill. Or something like that. What started this whole series of fake Dunhill threads? Did Briar Lee buy a fake Dunhill? Or, was it that Son pipe that triggered all of this?
Thanks.... and how bizarre... even more weird than the fake Czech tools that were hitting eBay a year or so ago.Someone posted for sale a pipe with a white dot stem, stamped only "Not for Sale." Briarlee bought it and thinks it's a fake Dunhill that is nonetheless real. Or something like that.
I corrected my post. Briarlee does not think the "Not for Sale" pipe is a fake Dunhill, but a real one. I'm not following the SON posts enough to know what the deal is. Bizarre indeed.Thanks.... and how bizarre... even more weird than the fake Czech tools that were hitting eBay a year or so ago.
If it is just going to be a beater/smoker, an eBay estate will do, and if the listing says Peterson and the final bid is 15 dollars AND it smokes well, who cares! I’ve never contemplated the stamp on the side of a pipe…Are you intimating that you otherwise buy from disreputable sources?
Why yes. I think we could....Can we drag this on any longer??...
There can only be one... ?since starcat
