It took me a while as well, but the Glencairn grew one me, and the prices on them are fine.
I also have the official Reidel whisky glasses which are similar. Those were a gift I wouldn't have bought for myself, because while they're nice, they're thinner than I would prefer and feel very delicate to my hands.
If I'm enjoying something I already know well, it's hard to go wrong with a standard lowball or old-fashioned glass. My policy on those is more weight/heft is better.
