It took me a while as well, but the Glencairn grew one me, and the prices on them are fine.

I also have the official Reidel whisky glasses which are similar. Those were a gift I wouldn't have bought for myself, because while they're nice, they're thinner than I would prefer and feel very delicate to my hands.

If I'm enjoying something I already know well, it's hard to go wrong with a standard lowball or old-fashioned glass. My policy on those is more weight/heft is better.

I have two of the Glencairn type glasses, several good bourbon glasses (the came in the gift sets with the bottle), various wine glasses. I drink out of all of them when I think about it.

That being said, I'm a heathen. As long as it holds the booze and it doesn't leak, I will drink out of it. Yesterday I just grabbed a red Solo cup for my Gin and tonic. Like glass, it doesn't impart any different flavors to the drink. I've also been known to drink my rum from a coffee cup.

I think tincup rye is just repackaged MGP rye, like Bulleit Rye and many others, so you’ve likely already had it with a different label.

I thought Bulleit was made in Kentucky by the Four Roses distillery, is it not?
The regular corn whiskey, sure. Not the rye.

Glencairn. Heat transfer isn’t an issue if you hold it by the base. Really worth it when you add a few drops of water and can really smell the whiskey open up.

I like them for bourbon, too, but I do have a shorter, a little more open version of the same glass from Kentucky Bourbon Trail, I think? Link below (they actually appear to be on quite the sale, I may grab some more). I prefer them for barrel proof stuff as it allows a little more of the nose to escape so I’m not runny-nosed trying to drink my bourbon.

1/2 price of glencaron on Amazon.

The Glencairn glasses came in the mail today. I ordered two of them. I'll try them this weekend. I've been sipping the Woodford Reserve and enjoying it. I'm going to try one of the ryes. I have to open my Hansom Flake and try it. That's one of my goals for tomorrow. Relaxing and enjoying my pipe and a nice bourbon. I might even take a nap. lol Yes, I have lofty plans.

Thank you all for the suggestions.

Always seem to miss the last post on the page. Sorry about that. I took a look. That's a great deal and the look good, too. I am somewhat impatient. It might be a good idea to have a set of these, even though I have the Glencairn glasses.

Like I said, I prefer them to my Glencairns for barrel proof offerings. Just seems to let a little more of the heat escape and aid in smelling the whiskey, not the burn, so much.

For $12/4, I don’t think you can go wrong.

Probably give this a try. I checked the distributor and it seems to be fairly highly rated for a lower priced rye. Do you drink it neat?
Yes. Small sips are best as it's a rather high proof. Just over $45/bottle here locally. Make sure you get the 4 year.

One thing a lot of people never factor when considering cost is what the volume of a high proof would actually be if you added enough water to bring it down to the equivalent of 80 proof.
