is this berliner-weiss available here in the states?

Yes it is but it's hard to find. Try German restaurants and bars or you can try to find 6 packs in serious beer stores. You can get the woodruff syrup from Amazon.

Daimyo-

is this berliner-weiss available here in the states?

I'm a Hop-head, but this one has piqued my interest..........
If you're east of the Mississippi, chances are Bell's Brewing out of Michigan distributes to you. Bell's Oarsman Ale is the only American-brewed Berliner Weiss I've seen. It's not a particularly amazing example of the style, but you'll get an idea of whether you'll like it or not.
The other one you sometimes see around is called Professor Fritz Briem's 1809 Berliner Weisse. It comes in a 500ml bottle and it's very good. It's brewed in Germany.
For me, I'll take my Berliners without any sweetening agents. I like the sourness.

Thanks! yes, I am in Ohio, we get lots of the Bell's stuff, I don't recall seeing the Oarsman Ale, but will look for it. I do like a certain sourness to my beers... Looking forward to trying these- Thanks!

Wow guys, some great, and interesting lists on here!

I think this might be the longest running thread I've ever started!
Well, I tried a couple of "new to me" brews tonight, Guinness Draught (in the widget can poured into a frosty mug), and Sam Adams Cream Stout.

The Guinness was pretty good, a little more of a smoked flavor than I would like, but ok none the less.

The Sam Adams Cream Stout was pretty decent as well.
As for my list, I forgot to mention a couple of runner ups.
Big River Southern Flyer Light (a local brew from Chattanooga)

Shock Top Belgian White

Blue Moon Mountain Abbey Ale

Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin Ale

Blue Moon Rounder Pale Ale
Great lists guys! Keep them coming!

I really enjoy trying new tobaccos, I am constantly looking for new and interesting blends and have tried well over a hundred. I am the same way with Scotch, I have tried over sixty according to my ledger, I have favorites of course, Lagavulin and Laphroig, but I enjoy trying new labels. However, I really only buy one beer Heineken and only one brand of coffee Eight O' Clock Columbian. I find it amusing that I enjoy variety so much in tobacco and Scotch but when it comes to beer and coffee I don't like change at all. I have drank lots of different beers and many brands of coffee but in these two areas, my tastes are quite firmly set, go figure!

Guinness Draught (in the widget can poured into a frosty mug)
Some of the experts these days say that frosting mugs doesn't do anything positive for your beer, can wreck head formation, and maybe pick up flavors from your freezer.
For me, ice-cold beer is pretty much never a good thing. I find that it sort of numbs the tastebuds. And with a low-alcohol, light-bodied* beer like Guinness, I think having all your tastebuds engaged is a good thing. Remember, in Ireland and the UK, they traditionally serve beer at something like 50 degrees or more.
* Guinness is actually the first light beer. Hard to believe, I know, but the 'heavy' feel of it has more to do with the nitrogen pour than any inherent qualities of the beer.

I also tried Guinness Draught in the bottle tonight, poured into a glass.

I think I actually like it better than the widget can.

More testing is needed thought, lol!

I like Stouts, plain and simple. If I had to pick a favorite, I would say it is currently Founders Breakfast Stout, but when I am on the coast I like Portsmouth Brewery's Black Cat Stout and Gritty McDuff's Black Fly Stout.
On a side note, I just found out that my niece is married to the nephew of the president of Abita Brewing Company in Louisiana. So now I need to figure a way to get "hooked up", as I hear Abita makes some fine beer.

I was just lucky enough to score two bottles of Dogfish Head 120 Minute this morning. I've been wanting to try it forever. Based on what I've read it will quickly land somewhere in my top 10 list :)

I used to love drinking Whitbread pale ale, but I think they went out of business.
It was very good stuff.
