There's a big conference of beer producers. At the end of the day, the presidents of all beer companies decide to have a drink in a bar.
The president of 'Budweiser' orders a Bud, the president of 'Miller' orders a Miller Lite, Adolph Coors orders a Coors, and the list goes on. Then the waitress asks Arthur Guinness what he wants to drink, and much to everybody's amazement, Mr. Guinness orders a Coke!
"Why don't you order a Guinness?" his colleagues ask.
"Naah. If you guys won't drink beer, then neither will I."

The best stout there is, and my favorite beer. Old Rasputin, by North Coast Brewery.
I like the picture where it's been poured for two. It's very expensive and I often share a bottle with a close friend. It's almost 9% alcohol so half a bottle is a substantial drink on its own. I prefer this beer in a wide globe glass usually a brandy snifter.

Interesting! Definitely some new ones to try here. Miller High Life seems to show up a bit. That was the first beer I ever had, shared with me by my boss on the way home from work. For a long time, my friend Leslie was the King of drinking because he drank FOUR BEERS! How could anyone drink that much?
Stella is showing up, but personally, I've never had a good experience with the green bottle aftertaste twang.
Dogfish Head 120 is here. I tried that when I asked the beer guy what the absolute best beer he had was. He said he had four in the back, but I could only buy two because he wanted the other two! It was sold in singles at $6 dollars each (for a regular 12oz bottle), but for me wasn't worth the money, though it was tasty.
Old Milwaukee is my favorite of the mainstream lagers. It's a bit sweet, but when it was advertised, cost the same as the Bud's, Miller's and Coors'. When they quit advertising it, it went to bottom shelf price. I believe it only comes in pints (16oz cans, called tall boys in Texas)
Wheat beers are awesome, what they lack in alcohol, they make up for in flavor. One of the best brews with food. I liked Celis White from Austin, you just have to try it before someone tells you it's spiced with coriander and orange peel, or you'll think they're offering you a wine cooler.
Old Rasputin I've wanted to try for years, but I haven't yet found it available.
I have noticed quite a few of us know the ABV, that's probably not random.
@Uber: Yeah, it's an acquired taste. It's kinda like rotten bread, as wine is basically rotten grapes. When you're in college and someone offers you Everclear and Kool Aid, say no. Wine is fine.
@juvat: While you and I could have a great time with a case of Buds, I haughtily sniff at you. *snif* There. And you're using the wrong fork.

Rafterman, my late father in law was buried with a can of PBR in his casket (he INSISTED).
Simnettpratt, I'm in ALMOST total agreement with your choices. But Old Milwaukee? REALLY?!

Hey! I included the caveat, 'of the mainstream lagers'. What I meant was, 'of the crummy beers'. It's too sweet, but I'd rather have Old Milwaukee than Budweiser, Miller or Coors. The company you're with trumps the beer anyway.
Pabst Blue Ribbon reminds me of my old retired Army helicopter crew chief buddy. He didn't get sent to Vietnam because his brother was over there. We drank a lot of Hamms. We went out shooting his AR-15 at a private range, and we'd balance empty Hamms cans on the top of the target board. I remember the range being 100yds, we were using the scope, but looking back I'm not sure it was that far. You'd walk down to the board and there'd be holes in the cans, but the rounds were going so fast the cans wouldn't get knocked off. We put one can on a picnic table at about 30yds, and after I shot it, there was one entry hole in it, but no exit hole. No fragments in the can, just the entry hole and the pull tab hole in the top. WTF?? I have not been able to explain that.

Belhaven in the nitro can and Black Butte Porter are hard to beat, but I like too many and such a wide range of beers to really narrow it down. From Orval to Union Jack, Rodenbach to Red Rocket Ale, I kind of like them all.
Of course, there's also the homebrew on top of that, just finished the clean-up on a foreign extra stout brew day.

Guinness.
Forever and always.
I am a dark beer booze hound. Love stouts the most, porters, black lagers, dark ales like Bass and Newcastle, etc etc etc. If it's dark, I'll drink it (I'll drink anything if it's free tho).
I've tried them all and then some, and Guinness will always be #1.

No! You say yes! One glass of that and it will be the best night you will never remember. I don't really drink though, the few time I have drank, I couldn't stop drinking. I don't remember most of those nights. My family has a huge history of alcoholism, so that probably was why I could't stop drinking

Uber, you're a young dude and apparently have your time to spend with Everclear. That means you're normal. Just remember you are much beloved around here; my life is better for knowing you.

For me Guinness is the Prince Albert of Stouts. It's kinda bland, but it makes a lot of people happy. Almost any stout I've had since is better. Just my opinion, don't mean to step on toes.

Murphy's is a better stout than Guinness. Just saying.....
Murphy's is high quality, for sure.
But Guinness is Guinness.
It's probably just because I drank my weight x 3 in it every year I was in college, so it will always be #1.
There are plenty I probably like more; Sammy Smith Oatmeal, Bluegrass Brewing Co. Dark Star, Old Ras Imperial, Sammy Smith Taddy Porter, Sam Adams Cream, Young's Double Chocolate (+ Sam Adams Cherry Wheat = Chocolate Covered Cherry black & tan), but Guinness will always be my 'favorite'.

Almost anything from Stone Brewery, especially Arrogant Bastard. Sierra Nevada's Torpedo. Boddintons. Blue Moon. John Courage Russian Imperial Stout. There are so many that I had when I lived in Germany that were by far the best ever, however, my daily is Miller High Life.
