This was my second car. Red and while rolled and pleated upholstery, red and white pair of dice over the rear view mirror and Dodge Lancer "hub caps" and a Wonderbar radio. It looked a lot like this one.

Some beautiful cars in this thread...leave it to me to scum the place up...my first car was a blue 1980 Datsun 210 sedan that I bought in about 1987 or 88.
My first vehicle was a brand new 1986 Honda Elite 150 scooter though, so strangely the car was a downgrade! hehe

First car was a 76 Malabu.
I just lost my 96 Mazda B2300 pickup. It was 17 years old with 239,100 miles on it when they told me I needed a new engine. Wow! I loved that truck.

My first car: 1955 Plymouth Belvedere (like this, but 2 door) had Dodge Lancer hub caps like ColColt, tuck and roll seat covers, spotlights on both driver and passenger sides, dice hanging from mirror, and a set of bongo drums in the back window. Was an early HS graduation gift from my grandfather who passed on a month after graduation.

My first new car: 1969 Dodge Charger (like this, different base color with white interior), 383 cu. In., Holly 6-pack carbs, racing tranny & differential. Ex got it in the divorce, rolled it 6 months later…  I got custody of our daughter, the better end of the deal….

Subaru wagon, the only car worth a damn on the snow and ice up here in Alaska.
I disagree!
My Jetta did just fine in the winter. In fact, I never got it stuck when we used to rally it to Alyeska (when I felt rich) or Turnagain (when I was broke, which was often) in nasty snowstorms. Had to be the first to get that fresh 'Pow.
Oh, my first car was a 1985 Fiero GT that was equipped with the latest 2.8L V6 Converter Technology. It converted fuel into noise.

1962Renault Dauphine, similar to this one:

I like rear engine cars, and have owned several Volkswagens and Corvairs since then. But I never forgot my first, and she was French.

My favorite car was a sleeper. 1971 Celica Supra. Looked like the Celica but had the Supra in line 6. Wound up throwing a piston through the hood doing 187mph in my last street race with it.
A 1993 model had a drag coefficient of .31 which calculates out to you needing approx. 488 HP out of your 6-cylinder.
The stock motor only put out 160hp, the turbocharged put out 210, and the twin turbo put out 276.
Stock speedometer only went to 140
So, I assume you were just messing with us?

Kind of giving away my age here but OK. First car was a 1951 Oldsmobile delta 88 four door. Only twelve years old when I got it. One of the first years they offered hydraulic lifters. They didn't last but you could still adjust tappets manually. This model was deluxe, had air conditioning, which never worked, was behind back seat and had two air delivery "tubes", one on each side of rear window. Was very comfortable car and built like a tank. Speaking of tanks you had to shut it off at the gas pump or you could never get the tank filled up. But gas was cheap. You'd call me a liar if I told you just how cheap, especially when they had a gas war on.

Mine was a 1959 Impala Hardtop Sport Coupe, with the rare 348 V8. It was big and heavy, but it was a chick magnet!!! Looked just like this one.

I converted to ram air using a dryer hose and I was determined to win the race I was in. That's what the ticket said when the cop pulled up on me and saw the hood with a 8inch hole in the hood from the piston. I could only attest to what the ticket said. Of coarse the NOS injection on the throtle body probably helped too.
Ah being young dumb and cocky. Lol.

This is a great thread! I've always been a car guy/gear head.
I lucked into a great deal as my first car. I had just joined USAF, my girlfriend at the time well her brother-in-law had traded two vehicles in on a 1985 RED Mustang GT 5.0L HO motor with 5-speed manual. In the first month he got 3 speeding tickets and had to sell it. I got this car for $8,000 with less than 2,500 miles on it. I was 18 y/o at the time, single, and had a hard time finding ANY company to insure me on it. In the end State Farm took me on but my monthly insurance payment was more that the car payment!?!? It was FUN, a great car and I survived to tell about it. In the first year i was pulled over 13 times (not ALL my fault, ahem) but got away with nothing more than verbal warnings. In the years since I've owed two more Mustangs...a 1995 GT 'vert and my current hooptie 2010 GT in Candy Red metallic. I have pics of all cars on my FB acct, unsure of how to link them over here though.
Respects,

B

84 Olds Cutlass Supreme, with a Deadhead sticker in the back window. That car used to float around corners in the winter. Mine had a vinyl top.

My first was an Alfa Romeo Giulia. I loved it: a true wolf in sheep's clothes. Drove several Alfa's to an untimely death since but not one was so much fun to drive as this one (or one very similar):

The only way you could tell was when you saw my tail lights as I pulled away from the Porsche 911.

1979 Ford F-350 Ranger. I loved that truck. Some bastard stole it and I probably shouldn't write in a public forum what I'd do to him if I ever found him. But that was a great truck.
