We lost Leon Redbone the other day. Although he asks us, in this 1977 performance, "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone," I'm quite sure many of us will.

May his memory be eternal.

Been listening to stoner/doom rock/metal the past week. Bands like Mystic Sons and My Sleeping Karma. Most of their songs don't have many singing parts just instrumental so they don't disturb my thought process while doing writing. :)

To mark the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre...from Roger Waters' masterpiece, Amused to Death:
She wore a white bandanna that said

Freedom now

She thought the Great Wall of China

Would come tumbling down
Won't you shed a tear

For my yellow rose

My yellow rose

In her bloodstained clothes
She's everybody's sister

She's symbolic of our failure

She's the one in fifty million

Who can help us to be free
Because she died on TV

I was listening to the It Ain't Easy album by the "Somebody" who saved Elton John's life, Long John Baldry, Reggie Dwight's band mate in the group Bluesology (Elton's stage name is taken from two of his band mates, Elton Dean and John Baldry. In the new movie Rocketman it is claimed the Elton took the "John" from John Lennon. Wrong.)

Anyway, here's the wonderful "Don't Try To Lay No Boogie-Woogie On The King of Rock & Roll" with John's classic intro, and the scorching tune that follows.

Right on both counts Dino...and thanks for the post...a cool tune with a funny story by Baldry.
