A gem indeed Beef! MATW is such a great album. It's an amazing string of classic albums that Elton & Bernie created in only about 5 years from '70 to '75, but MATW may be their best.

I've got a few of Sir Elton's works on vinyl from the 70's, and that is one of my favorite tunes.

Agreed. Just when I think MATW is my absolute favorite, then I listen to Goodbye YBR (album), and it becomes my favorite..... ALL good stuff in that period, the lyrics that Taupin was churning out is mind-blowing, not just in substance, but volume too................ good stuff, and good to see you posting!........... :)

That's for sure...in fact it's difficult for me to rate any album by anyone higher than GYBR. It's a fascinating panorama of music, lyrics and imagery...and it's just plain fun to listen to. And it begins with one of the greatest opening tracks ever:

I was doing music surfing on youtube and as one will, started thinking about musical history, influences, tastes and so forth, and realized that even if I don't 'get' the Bob Dylan who performs on video mumbling and barely strumming half the time...I was a big fan of his creativity long before I even knew who or what he is.

I encountered a cover by Peter, Paul, and Mary of "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright" and thought, wow!

So, knowing that the song itself is pure gold, I thought...hmmn, who else has covered this beauty?

Turns out there's a really fun cover by Willie and Merle..intimate and in the studio...
