What Is With These Esoterica Prices?

This just sold recently. I assume the round tins are from the most recent releases.

Surely the prices have not skyrocketed to these absurd levels? Is ANYONE still getting these at retail ?

Elsewhere: McClelland blends up to ~$175 for 100g of virginia, and ~$50 for those small batch C&D runs.

Wow, I know since McClelland's shut up shop, tobacco prices have been shooting up but sheesh, this is crazy no?

I won't buy Penzance anymore, but yes on Pembroke and Dunbar at less than $20/ tin and bags for $36.

I won't pay more than $5/ounce for tobacco and have a lot of "online unicorns". If folks took the time to call B&Ms, they'll find unicorns to be as mythical as the fairy tales.

That sort of thinking causes many to overlook really good blends. Have you heard the teeth gnashing over the lost Daughters and Ryan blends? A company that many condemned as RYO tobacco for years until it was gone. Other than last bomb English blends and some of Esoterica's offerings, I've not come across a tobacco that wasn't decent in one way or another in thirty years.

There's a sucker born every minute. A fool and his money are soon to part. I say that but if someone has never smoked McClelland and wants to worse than anything, $150 may not be a horrible price to pay. It's a matter of your perspective.

Looks like 4noggins, which has notoriously high consignment prices. I'd check pipestud to see what something closer to market value is, but it does seem like 4nog sells their stuff, so what do I know?

It's just the free market at work.............. Some people will spend $300 for a box (20) of good cigars, others will pay $150 for 20 pipefuls of good tobacco............
I've seen this in the bourbon world too, crazy prices for "rare" bourbons.......... I think it's healthy, good for the seller's and good for the buyer's.......... ?

seriously I've smoked like maybe two pouches or tins of something I couldn't stand. Even my least favorite blend I've smoked in the last few years was enjoyable and only not a rebuy because of there being stuff that is just better.
