Started working in a small architecture firm in highschool that took me through college. Spent a year after that working for a furniture designer / fabricator. Worked for a couple of architects after that. I worked on one house for 3-1/2 years designing, drafting and construction management where I touched every drawing, cleaned the site and worked hand in hand with every single trade to helping the client move in. Most amazing experience of my life. Then worked for shitty architecture firm for way too long, however, it has lead to my current job in R&D at Carvana. I started traveling the country building their photography stages but now design them and other photo system equipment. So basically i was an aspiring architect who now helps sell used cars. I often question my life choices until payday.

I’m a transactional attorney. For the past five years I’ve been in-house at a large multinational corporation. My day to day is the review, drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts and the associated counseling of the business units, with the occasional secondment to strategic projects for the company. Previously I spent way too many years at a law firm doing corporate general counsel work, M&A, etc.

Going in-house was a very deliberate trade of a few $$ for knowing when I’d be done working on any given day, i.e., a congenial work/life balance. As I’ve said before in a similar thread, I’m 10 years younger than I was 5 years ago.

I've done many things from an Old West gunfighter to an unemployment specialist. A few years back I quit my job at the State of Colorado, sold our house in Denver, and moved with my wife to California to study with Franciscan friars. I got my MDiv and am now an ER chaplain.

In school I excelled at several things. Especially science and shop classes. My dream job was to become a field biologist for the TWRA, but seeing as how there are rarely ever any positions available for that job I decided it was best not to pursue that. I trained for 4 years as a machinist, but at the time it was a hard profession to get into around here. Most places were laying off, some were closing down completely, and the ones that were hiring were looking for 10+ years of experience. So…. I went to work as a millwright. There I did everything from building, installing and repairing machinery and pipe lines to maintaining furnaces, paint lines and shot blasting machines to fabrication. Then I did production welding for several years. For the last 12 years or so I’ve been an industrial maintenance technician. I do a little of everything in this job. Electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, plc’s, welding, fabrication and machining. I’ve managed to work my way up to lead mechanic. I also do some mechanical engineering for them. It can be a very rough and stressful job, but I do get some satisfaction out of it.

I did local pro wrestling for a few years. I'm currently fighting for disability (not related, mental health).

I currently make and sell harry potter style wands and also sell herbal remedies. I also do tarot and palm readings for some cash.

I have seen things I didn’t know possible and have smelled things I didn’t think occurred in nature.

I have also been lied to more than my Ex wife while interviewing people.
