Various preliminary jobs such as student grader for book reviewing, script writing for an audio visual outfit, minesweeper radioman in the Navy and later a Navy journalist, along with mess duty and deck swabbing. I was a Veterans Admin. benefits counselor for several years. Finally put my journalism and writing degrees to work as a writer and editor with three or four different job titles for an environmental health science research institute where I stayed for about 35 years. All the while, I published my own literary work, a book, and a children's book for the institute at my day job. For the institute, I did a wide variety of tasks, mostly writing and editing, but also presentations, working with media foreign and domestic, photography, tours, meetings, exhibit design, slide and film scripts, and so on. The variety made it easy to stay around for a few decades. I had some travel, but not overmuch, to many U.S. cities and Toronto. When I traveled, I made a point of using my off time to see the city, not sit in a hotel bar. I have a lot of good memories of those off-hour ramblings.
