Could be. I hate to badmouth a GLP blend because his blends are typically great.
I have gotten a weird rotten apple tin note out of some of his other blends.. but nothing like JackKnife Plug

I don't think I have encountered any form of tobacco I would describe as repellent.
Better or worse but never repellent.

Now garlic, that is repellent for real.

Caminetto Barollo a potent combination of Cherry urinal cake flavoring and dumpster fire tongue bit.

Carter Hall is the second from recent memory. I didn't know there was a topping that simulated a mouthful of angry wasps but they achieved it.

I know it heresy to most but McClelland ketchup Virginia blends tasted disgusting to me. They made some wonderful English blends but smoking something that smelled like regurgitated ketchup never appealed to me.

That jar of 21 year old McClellands 5100... I HATE the smell of warm ketchup and I can still taste that bowl. It'll be 42 year aged 5100 before I crack that jar again. As soon as it's safe to venture in to public again I'll go to my first pipe club meeting and play the generous noob who's willing to share. I'll either make new friends or be asked to take my ketchup and leave.
