Laid out by the pool and smoked a bowl of Standard Mixture Mild until I started to break a sweat, went in the house and had a mini-fish fry for Friday,....drank a cold beer and found out I was "Not smarter than a fifth-grader"!
Right now I'm sitting on my butt thinking about sending my wife out to the casino with my sister-in-law for the night so I can watch "Grant and Lee" and "The Boondock Saints".

I pulled some more stuff up to end the Florida spring gardening season at my house(cept for a few things). Smoked a bowl of GLP Triple Play. Worked on the garage door opener.

Stocked up on briquettes and Hickory chunks... enough to last a couple of summers.

Wally World has the big two bag packages for less than the smaller single ones. :D

I feel for ya Dawk.

It seems that stupidity is epidemic these days.

Can I recommend a large bowl of Haddo's Delight, and a large Ezra Brooks... one cube.

Yesterday was too hot to wear pants. Today, I won a battle with a roach using nothing but Windex and a bottle of conditioner. Then I slept followed by doing some photography, spotting a redheaded woodpecker on our bird feeders, and posting some adoption advice on reddit. I'm also rolling the idea of a 3 day no-kid trip through the NEGA mountains and TN around in my head. I'd like to do a circuit of antique stores and pipe shops, heading up through Knoxville, over to Gatlinburg, and then back down to GA.

I am real lucky here that I have a pair of pileated woodpeckers nesting just behind the house. They are getting rather rare.

Spent the day with Cyndi without the kids. Stopped by Smitty's Tobacco in Gainesville, GA and enjoyed some conversation and picked up a tin of Solani Mixture 779 and 8oz bag of Bill Bailey's Best Balkan. Had IHop for lunch, then made our way up to Cleveland to check out some antique stores and visit Habersham Winery. Didn't find much in the way of pipes, but found a beautiful, and really old meerschaum that I have to fix the stem on. Will post pics later.
At the winery, tasted 4 different wines, then bought some to bring home (They have THE best muscadine wine), and a glass of a dessert wine for Cyndi and I to enjoy. We sat outside (really hot day) smoking some Balkan and talking pipes and tobacco with some of the ladies working in the winery.
A good day all around!

You are so lucky! These are my favorite birds. I can hear them in the woods about me but I see them very rarely. You can tell they're up there, though. Sounds like a muscular carpenter pounding a wood chisel with an oak mallet.
BTW -- Today, I finished watching "BIRTH OF A NATION."

went to breakfast with our usual friends, played on the internet, helped my son replace the condenser coil on his Honda CRX, evacuated it, recharged it, found out the main radiator fan would not come on with the A/C compressor and came up with a temperature switch to activate it on a rise it temperature of the liquid line. Ate KFC for supper. Smoked a bowl of Northwoods, then followed it up with a bowl of Penzance, while jamming heavily to the iPod at full volume....it's 2:32 AM and I'm all fired up over the great tunes.

Replaced a the ac compressor ,drier , expansion valve on my hoopty , cost 900 bucks , expression on my face as I cruised around in a 38 degree car was priceless . I like the feeling I get when my own stuff gets fixed by my own hands and sweat .

Hoopty , a vehicle that is in such bad shape that it defies all laws of physics that it even is operable. When taken to the quickie oil change place, the manager tells you to keep the oil and change the car! This is one step above a Janky mobile . Actually my vehicles are kept in immaculate condition useing only the best parts available for maintenance . :puffpipe:

Day Trippin'
The War Department had some business in "Hot-Lanta" yesterday.

So, I drove.

She had to stop and log in @ 9:00 yesterday, so I stopped in Anniston at a Starbucks. While she did her thing, I got a Tall cup of regular Joe and stoked a bowl of Q. :puffy:

Just for giggles stopped at the Georgia Welcome Center on I-20. Drank a bottle of water and stoked a bowl of Q. :puffy:

When we got to "Hot-lanta" and had exited on to 75/85 North and was forced to take a slight right instead of a slight left, and ended up in Olympic Park. So, I stoked up a bowl of Q :puffy: and turned around. (Thinking that by going back the way we came we could re-acquire our bearings and find the right streets.... Wrong! So, I blocked traffic on Peach Tree Street NW and (I know this is just wrong... but...) asked for directions from a "cabbie" and found that we were only 3 blocks away from our destination. (An example of the logic of "Hot-Lanta, found a street named North Street NE.)

We were early so we found a local "Choke and Puke" and had The Friday Special.. Fried Fish Sandwich, fries and Slaw... (review: Excellent) It was called Zesto's (founded in 1949).

Stoked a bowl of Q in the shade of a old oak while lunch settled. :puffy:

Dropped off the War Department... had an hour and half to kill (actually 2 hours)... no shade available... 98 degrees and had to wait in the car... They don't call it "Hot-Lanta" for nothing. Put the sun shade in the windshield, opened the windows, dug out my laptop, and watched two episodes of Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett... The Red Headed League, and The Final Problem. A very nice breeze kicked up. Stoked two bowls of Q. :puffy: :puffy:

Getting out-easier than getting in. (that's what she said :D ) Once back on 75/85 South, had to stop for the traffic light... Traffic control on On Ramps to I-20 Rush Hour in "Hot-Lanta". 8O 20 minutes from the center of town to Six Flags and free to navigate and sail into the sun set... Not too shabby at all... Stoked a bowl of Q. :puffy:

Decided to stop at the best Welcome Center in Alabama... Stoked a bowl of Q on the porch "out back" in a rocking chair and waited out a T'Storm with drops the size of golf balls and lots of thunder... That rain smelled amazing, and temperature dropped by 20 degrees... Awsome! :puffy:

Hit the highway again and decided to stop in Anniston again for a coffee and stoked a bowl of Q. :puffy: It was cool and smelled of fresh rain.

There was truck hanging off of the "Fly Over" down town B'ham and it shut down the "Red Mountain Expressway" so we cut through Leeds. (the home of my Mom and Charles Barkley, who is a really nice guy by-the-by) finally made it to the home-20 and stood outside in the cool and freshly washed yard and stoked a bowl of Q... :puffy:

All in all went to "Hot-Lanta" to smoke Q and watch Sherlock Holmes... :puffpipe:

Not a bad day, a perfect 10 bowls out 10. :D

Darn, that's a lot of 1Q for a fellow in one day.
Ate breakfast at Bob Evans, bought oil for the mower, then worked on it...
The Honda push mower I bought......well it took me 3 hours to install the broken gear change cable which attached to the top of the transmission, which was up under the mower deck, so I had to remove the rear wheels, axle, and transmission to get access to it. Then found out the OHV cover was leaking oil, so I put a clean bead of black Hi-temp Form-A-Gasket and re-sealed it up, let it cure for 8 hours, fired it back up and now it leaks more than it did before. The Honda repair center says that's the way Honda recommends sealing the valve cover. I was suprised that there was no gasket available from Honda. :(
Stopped by my B&M and tried some Hellsgate blend this morning, then walked next door to the Orvis shop and bought an ExOfficio vented outdoorsman shirt...wanted one of those for a long time.
