Ok Why do some of you guys make V cuts in ceegars? and what do you use?
Occasional Cuban cigar smoker here.I use a cigar cutter that takes the top clean off
I will use a V-cutter on any cigar 46 ring and under. I will occasionally use a bullet cutter on 42 ring and under..The reason(s): 1. The use of a V will eliminate the possibility of the foot deconstructing on a improperly rolled cigar. 2. Once upon a time, when Coronas (and not Robusto+ cigars) were the most popular vitola, the V- cut was considered the most elegant way to cut a cigar. 3. The cut provides a perfect surface area for the draw.
I use a basic stainless V-Cutter that I have had for more than 40 years.

Well I have learnt something today. Thank you for that it does look elegant and I like the reasoning behind it.

I also use them on almost all my cigars, only lanceros are straight cut. This might be considered BS, but I like the draw dead centre the most, I also get a draw with a little bit more resistance which I like. I use a xikar VX2 cutter, has a shallow cut, for a deeper cut you have to turn to Colibri.

Day one of the Great Snowstorm of '21 turned into a dud here in Denver. Spent most of the day at the B&M smoking cigars. First up was a La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Reserva. Pretty nice, but not quite cellar worthy for me. Next was a Fuente Hemingway Classic and the same story.
It’s still snowing up there? Bless your hearts

I tend to only use it on thicker cigars, or very box-pressed cigars. I like it because I find it can concentrate the flavors on a bigger cigar with an airy draw. And it does keep the head area nice and clean and free from unraveling pieces of caps and the like.

Now smoking an Esteban Carreras Chupa Cabra Toro. With a v-cut (peen slit)
