Slow Horses. S4 Ep 4. The usual, 5/5, AppleTV.

The fun thing for me was to discover Mr. Smith is in the show! Well, Hugo Weaving, the actor who played Mr. Smith is also in this one. His voice and enunciation was recognizable in an instant.

True oil field story, after I was discharged from the navy, got a job on an offshore drilling rig, since I was the worm I got all the dirty jobs. After 7 days on a 14 day hitch I wanted to see land, toolpusher told me to paint the floor deck in the pump room. It was a huge place, I told myself if I screw up he’ll fire me and I get to ride in the crew boat to land. So I kicked the 5 gallon of paint over took a mop and started swishing it around, kicked a second bucket of paint moping it around. I said to myself I’m fired for sure. Toolpusher came and saw my job, Said damn boy that the finest job I’ve seen.took several days to get the paint off me, no crew boat took me home I Garronte!

Sounds like working for the post office. If you're a screw up, in order to get rid of you they simply promote ya.

One summer during collage I worked as a swamper (someone who unloads and loads big rig trucks). They offered me a one day job unloading a rail car and the pay was 4 times usual. I jumped at it. Out in the rail yard there was a box car sitting all alone and way away from every thing. Next to it was a big rig and my job was to move the contents from the box car to the trailer.... which I did. Afterwards I read the waver I had signed a little closer and it stated the job was considered "hazardous" and what I was moving around were canisters of some kind of high explosives used in oil exploration. That was my only oil business experience. puffy

Yep, when I was hotshoting in my UD, THEY HAD A LOAD OF BLASTING CAPS, when I got there they told me they would put it on a wooden pallet and everything would be ok, told them fuck that shit you’re gonna lay down 2 by 4s on my steel deck, then put the pallets in that then tie everythin down, or it’s a no go. They hemmed and hawed but finally did it, what you gonna do with the 2 by 4 s after you unload, told him toolpusher can build him a private shithouse. rotf

Landman- pathetically small wrenches as @tbradsim1 said.

My question is- would they really be using plumbers wrenches for the most part? Isn't that a good way to strip bolt heads? And about how long would the spanners (wrenches) be?

They won't strip if properly fitted. And, as to size of the wrenches, I seen some about 5 feet long. What surprised me more was that the crew seemed to be oblivious to the danger of a leak and a spark. Not very realistic, but then again, it's just TV. puffy

Some series that I saw recently and liked were SKinwalker Ranch, Beyond Skinwalker Ranch, and Netflix's Investigation Aliens. I would give all of them 4/5. With Skinwalker Ranch, it looked like they did some great technologically advanced testing of areas on the Ranch, but at least in a few cases it looked like they were exaggerating or knowingly making things up like the time that they found a wolf-type carcass in a creek and implied to the audience that it was an extinct dire wolf carcass. In fact, it looked to me like a regular wolf or coyote should be given more consideration (I forget which, but I'm guessing the regular wolf).
