The last couple of nights I watched a series I recorded back in March.

Called 'The Capture', it's a pretty dark thriller spread over six fifty minute episodes.

It is about UK & US secret services working together to manipulate or in their terminology 'correct' CCTV footage to suit their needs regards to catching criminals they have no real evidence against.

The very thought that this might really be happening is damned scary!

A gripping tale very well done so well worthy of a 5/5 score from me.

They apparently did a second season though I've never seen it.

Regards,

Jay.

Started season 3 of Only Murders in the Building on Hulu. A couple of episodes in and I'm not enjoying it as much as the first two seasons.

Audience score of 94? I rate 2/5 stars, it has about 15 minutes of total action that was exciting. Other than that, the other 1.5 hours, this one was a dud.

Yeh, it seems like season 3 is every series' Achilles heal. The story has run its natural course, and characters are completely sketched out. So, 3rd season has to either get crazy kookoo or just flop around in its own juices. I loved the previous 2 seasons also... but it so hard seeing Steve Martin struggle with hitting lines on que and struggle to look energetic and... alive.. I am a big Stave Martin fan, and it's hard to see your favs get so old.

I read somewhere that there will be a season four and Chevy Chase would be interested in joining Steve Martin and Martin Short. The Three Amigos working together again.

I just bought a 7 DVD boxset called The Cohen Brother's Collection (because it was silly cheap) so I have 7 films to decide whether I like them or no.

BTW I've never heard of the Cohen brothers but the title The Big Lebowski rings a distant bell, so I suppose it will be a lucky dip over the next few evenings.

A Serious Man/Burn After Reading/The Big Lebowski/The Hudsucker Proxy/Barton Fink/Intolerable Cruelty & Blood Simple.

Jay..

I'm curious to read if you like the Big Lebowski. I like certain Cohen brothers movies, but that is not one of them (actually none above). The Big Lebowski is universally loved, so I'm the odd man out here.

I was going to watch them as per the order on the box, however I just looked up The Great Lebowski on Wiki and spotted at least four actors that I have high regard for so that will be tonight's viewing.

Regards,

Jay.
Surprised Fargo was not included in the collection , definitely one of my favorite films from them.

Binging New Amsterdam on Netflix, a medical procedural set in a public hospital in NYC. Even though it doesn't miss a trope, presents a fairy tale version of medicine, and of human beings in general. For example, he newly appointed director of medicine is a modern day saint, utterly selfless, endlessly compassionate, with an overwhelming passion for saving lives at the expense of his own, in other words, unlikely.

These are people to whom some of us might aspire to be. Most of us would be looking for an easier path. I find it mindlessly enjoyable. It's mostly the cast, because the writing is pretty average. If you're not expecting great art, or the rebirth of St Elsewhere, and you like medical procedurals, this is one of the better ones.

I just finished up How To With John Wilson, a very unique 3-season show that I would imagine gets a very polarizing response. I personally adored it, and find it very difficult to describe, so I’ll let the trailer do it for me:

It’s extremely unique and very human, and captures the feeling of watching people in a city very well. You really get a feel for how a cinematographer sees the world around them, and captures these little glimpses into the lives of strangers. More than a little absurd and meandering, and each episode is entirely self contained. Definitely something you’ll know in the first episode if it’s something you would enjoy or not. I would recommend it for anyone looking to try something new! 5/5 for me, but I’m certain it’ll be 1/5 for some folks on here!

I must say I'm quite surprised you have not seen any Coen brothers movies or even heard of them...and I envy you seeing these for the first time. I look forward to your impressions.

I absolutely love their films. In addition to Fargo, the other two you must see are No Country For Old Men and Oh Brother Where Art Thou.

The Great Lebowski was a funny old film, at first I thought it might be a musical of some sorts (I HATE musicals) as there were so many lengthy music tracks which added nothing to the story in my view so thank goodness for the fast forward button.

I found it was that typically fast paced, gag a minute style of American humour that doesn't work very with me, I prefer my humour a tad less in your face.

That said it was an interesting story with good performances from Jeff Bridges & John Goodman but not enough of Steve Buscemi (who I really like) but what Sam Elliot's role in the film might have been was completely lost on me as was the plot right towards the end.

I'm being generous here guys, I'll give it 3/5.

@vosBghos and @brian64, I actually have a couple of Fargo series on DVD that I enjoyed, I just never knew they were by the Cohen brothers.

Jay.
