Last smoke of the day before I have to get cleaned up and productive.
3p’s in a Macqueen Halfling. The jury is still out on this pipe: I love the aesthetic but it has a smaller bowl than I like and the wood mouthpiece takes some getting used to.

Back to fiddling with the tractor.
This morning I busted out a pipe I’ve only smoked once before, but that may be changing: Dad’s old Rolex/Italy pocket pipe.
It’s actually burning my go-to Dark Sails mix quite well.

SB, that is a cool pipe. At some point, give us some better photos and angles for consumption.

Six-oh boy here we go b-day smoke: freshly popped Marlin Flake in an LJ Peretti Virgin Deluxe (no virgins were harmed in the making of this pipe), Earl Grey tea, sunshine after a thunderstorm last night. All good.

Happy Birthday to you!!! Good work on the protection of those virgins..........

Morning Post - Smokes Over The Last Two Days. Skippable Drivel underneath the last pic as usual. Order kinda skewed but it is what it is.

First smoke of note, night before last, was my Curved Falcon with the not used enough, but well broken in briar bowl, loaded up with SWR. Excellent. Will be smoking this combination often. Bowl biased for aro-codgers, a breed which I can smoke and very much enjoy, given current contrainments.

This morning, I Just finished a Kwiki Grape outside with the usual Gang of Idiots. (a la Mad Magazine. Remember it? I was a fan, bigtime. That's why my humor is somewhat warped, eh?). 😄 And a MM Minicob stuffed with a parfait of Smokers' Pride Cherry Cavendish, and Smoker's Pride Whiskey. Not bad at all! Pic shown with my straight Falcon with the Bantam Bowl. Smoked that yesterday at the range. Good smoke indeed, loaded with Bengal Slices. This morning's smoke was with the MM Cob, which you can see stuffed in the corner of the photo below.

Took the afternoon off yesterday, and went to the range, a badly needed break from Apple Action. Smoke there was the Straight Falcon with Bengal Slices. Not gonna take another shot so a twofur is shown but in the wrong order. . . . Aint' gonna take another shot, either. Needed the range break badly to clear my head.

Finished the day last night with the second break-in smoke of the Lubinsky Olivewood. Spread the break-ins with the second half of the bowl, using Captain Black Dark Cavendish. A good system, methinks. Spreads the misery over two days and was actually not intolerable, as is a full bowl all at once. A day of rest in between, and will go to the much looked forward Peterson Tavern Pipe for the same routine.

I pictured the Lubinsky showing the other side of the pipe rather than repeat my original photo. This view shows an interesting figuration. If you use your "lie on your back, look at the clouds, and tell me what you see method", you may see another Muppet Monster . . . . a leering "cute" monster figure, which follows the Miss Piggy analysis. At least, I do.

The pipe has a narrow draft hole, and seems to have a slightly restricted draw. No, there ain't no filter. We'll see how it progresses over time. Nice to hold and smoke, though.

Skippable Drivel: Needed the shooting break badly. Went to the outdoor range, and checked the sight in of my #2 rabbit/grouse gun. Yeah, it's an apparent fruitcake mini-gun, a nimrodic version of one of my pipsqueek McQueen Mini-jobs. But there's method to my madness.

I take a lot of students to the range, and wanted a gun that the girls would get off shooting. It's a hot pink version of the "Chipmunk", a single shot mini-rifle. And it shoots like a hot damn. The girls absolutely love it, and it gets them anxious for another range outing. And they whine to their dads to get them one. Works for them. :ROFLMAO:

I've sighted it in, with the ancient 4X Weaver .22 scope, for 25 yards, which with Federal Classic ammo, shoots 1/4" - 3/8" groups all day. Puts it dead on at 50, and about 2" low at 75, which is as far as I'll ever shoot a .22 at living critters. It's not quite as accurate as my CZ which is a one-holer at 25, but it's close enough for jazz.

Checked the zero, and proceeded to shoot a 10 shot steel swinging target with a descending series of ten circular discs going from 2" down to 1/2". Nailed every one of them consecutively with one shot. Packed up and went home. Perfect survival gun. Wouldn't hesitate on a bambi under such conditions.

As the terminator said, "I'll be back . . . . ", both hear and there. May even be able to catch up on a post or two. Finished picking apples and am looking at the boxes with malice right now. 😬 At least they're done. Pick crabbies tomorrow and that's it save for drying and canning, which will be done as I can. Pun intended.
Hot pink just isn’t for the girls lol. That rifle looks pretty awesome and I’d shoot the out if it, though I would add some more flair in it to get more of a vaporwave vibe

Did a set of walking reps in the high heat and humidity, and am not far from finishing this bowl of year 2016 D&R Three Sails in a slight bent black pattern etched 1977 Lorenzo Lorsan Sigma level top billiard with a gray swirl acrylic saddle stem. It felt like I was breathing moisture. Tomato the Brave ate and ran earlier, and I didn't see him when I was walking so he just have found a cool place to lay. Daisy the Feral Princess was laying on the recliner. Harry the Hairy stayed under a big tree in the shade, and walked inside with me after my last lap.

The Jury ain't out on that pipe, IMHO. I have one and love it. As a matter of fact, ya's getting the daily Kewpie Doll Award for posting this, one of my favourite longstems, mostly because you're the first person outside of myself (as far as I'm aware) whose posted a McQueen longstem in this thread.

Smoke that pipe right, and you'll get a full hour out of it, easy!! I get 70-80 minutes on mine, which is biased for aro-codgers. Try a fodder like, say, Borkum Riff Dark Cavendish and you'll lead the jury on to a positive verdict!! 😃 👍👍

Murks! (that's the Prince George abbreviation for "Merci!" btw). Yup, it's not only awesome but shoots great. The other "vibe" about it is that it fits perfectly, loaded but uncocked, on the dashboard or beside you in the truck, and it can be cocked, and arm rested on the open window on either side in one motion.

Can't quite do that with the CZ, so this is usually my go-to rabbit/grouse gun for road hunting. Will also do as a suvival gun on larger game. I know this for a fact because I've been asked a couple of times by farmer friends to dispatch billygoats that became problematic on the farm. One headshot, point blank, and one lungshot. Down. Both. Instantly. The lungshot at about 25 yards cuz them billys have thick heads. And even apparently evil critters deserve instant dispatch.

Would want a bit more for bear, but for survival food, I'd do the head thing at 25. A charge? . . . . uhh, probably not. But'd make him think a bit and maybe turn him. A charge is dicey with anything, even a .375 or .45-70. Know that from experience, too.

Enjoyed three open face cheddar cheese, ham and double egg sandwiches and a golden delicious apple lunch. I'm part way through this bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Coffee from a freshly opened bag of Gold Star mmmMocha, neat, is my drink. Sleepy Suzy is by my side.

Starting to chase down where the old Kubota is sucking air in the fuel lines (won’t restart if shut down hot) with Peterson 3P’s in the NoName Dane.

And this evening’s sunset, it was just too good not to share.

First taste of Burley Morning Pipe in the Falcon Bantam Bulldog

IMG_1100.jpeg

I'm working on the deck today, trying some samples received in a trade with @tubbyninja1337 . First was Kendal Plug, which was delicious.

Next, I dug into my stash and tried some Old Joe Krantz Blue Label for the first time in a year. It didn't impress me last year, but today I found it very pleasant and flavorful. It will never be a staple for me, but I see why people like it. I wanted to use it as a burley baseline for Burley Morning Pipe, which is richer and a little sweet: I'm going to have to buy more of this. Next up: Burlier Morning Pipe.
