Well, caught up as best as I could with the time I got, and here's a post of
my yesterday evening and this morning's smokes.
Last night's smoke, the
Mr.Brog "Old Army" in Olivewood. Pretty much broken in, and I played a hunch and stuffed it with C&D's Sunday Picnic, for two reasons. Wanted to try a tobacco with a strong Oriental Component in it, to test my tastebuds. Secondly, have an idea that this pipe might be Oriental biased. Yup on both counts. Could taste much more variety than in past months. Still diluted as it were, but like diluting Scotch with water, it still tasted pretty good in spite of it.
Two smokes this morning with the Tabletop Crew:
SWR in the McQueen Pipsqueek "Fable." It continues to love this tobacco which is great, because it's a wonderful smoking pipe, and SWR is a great morning blast of Vitamin N, almost as effective and quicker than a cigar. Useful indeed for eczema itch if I eat in an undisciplined manner, which has happened frequently in the must-be-moderated world of cherries, berries and apples.
The last smoke this morning was the much anticipated (understand in context lol) break-in smoke with my brand new
Peterson Rhodesian Tavern Pipe. Dark Cavendish mix of
Borkum Riff and Captain Black layered. Smoked only half the bowl, will finish it tomorrow, as has been my pattern.
All three of these pipes are amongst the best smoking pipes I own. Fantastic to be honest, and I'm thrilled with all three. They're go-to's for sure.
The new Pete is exactly what I thought it would be. Nice in the hand, a perfect medium bowl size for a full hour smoke, and it's a smoking pipe, not like my other Small Pete, which is a sipper. It also, with its 7 1/2" length, fits perfectly into the niche between a longstem and a regular sized pipe. Note that the McQueen Fable is 6" in length, and the Brog is 9", barely squeeking (IMHO) into the longstem category.
Easy day today - one more drier full of apple-crab slices, then a trip to the market for more freezer bags and supplies. After that, a day of cleanup and surfing the net to survey the collapsing planet. Will post again tomorrow.
Cheers and have a great Friday. Oh yeah. . . . peuk green tinge to shot due to pic being shot on my kitchen table, with mixed flourescent lighting and sunlight. Have enough trouble balancing for the forum site without travelling down this road, which I won't.
