On a scale of 1-10, where would you place Bayou Night on the strength scale? I am looking to place an order to restock on some of my old standbys and was looking for something new to try that has a decent Perique kick.

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am part way through this bowl of Esoterica Dunbar in a smooth straight late ‘50s, early 1960s Lane era Charatan Selected 43 Dublin with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. This pipe was formerly owned by actor William Conrad. Phone chatting with the fella who gifted me the pipe.

For me it's about a 7. It's 50% perique, which is a lot, but it's balanced out by the other stuff. You might want to try Bayou Morning too. It has has 25% but it seems more periquey?...periquy?....perique-forward to me than Bayou Night.

More McC Samovar in a Dunhill Shell.

I Realize that with every bowl of Samovar smoked, that is one less pipe full of this wonderful blend on the planet.

Gone, never to be made again. Ever. Makes me feel a twinge of sadness for the up and coming pipers who will never know it's charms. That said, I'm thankful there are a lot of excellent available blends out there.

The times they are a changin'....

So Jim, what's your preference? Jazz or Golden Delicious?

Inquiring minds and all.... ?
