I like your beard and think the pipe goes very well with it!
Much appreciated. It's about 50% longer if I straighten it.
I enjoyed the Mac Baren pipe tobacco I've smoked in my clay pipe
This fascinates me. I've only tried Briar so far but have heard that clay, morta and meerschaum all smoke "dryer".
I think all their blends are delicious and they definitely went down well!
MacBaren has treated me VERY well as a new pipe smoker. Especially their Amphora line. Good moisture, easy to smoke, great flavour. Amphora Rich (Green) and Virginia (Yellow) are ones I will buy again and again.
The Virginia No. 1 and Vanilla Cream both came too wet but a few hours of dry time spread out on a plate helped. This past week, I nearly smoked my entire jar of Vanilla Cream. Lovely!
I had great difficulty lighting it
The 3 tobaccos I've had from sister-company Samuel Gawith were nearly drowned. Delicious taste but annoying (and painful) to smoke.
St. James Flake would have been a contender to replace DNR as my favourite except for this.
I must have gone back in time when I was wearing my Cavalier / Redcoat uniform and smoking a clay pipe of twist, as this is the stuff they smoked back then!
It's neat how pipes fit into history, isn't it? Across nations, battles and the political spectrum, the pipe was there.
