I used to “lightly” collect zippos.. moreso back when I smoked cigarettes.
It didnt take long to realize the zippo pipe lighters weren’t for me.
I was doing some digging yesterday and came upon the handful of Zippos I still have- mostly green tones and a couple graphics- and this cicada on white has always been my favorite. I put a Zippo butane insert in it- which is a maligned accessory, and I totally understand. The button is too small and you have to keep it depressed to keep it lit.
I’ll be putting it back in its box soon lol

Cool Zippo! I have a lightning bug which I believe is in that series. I also just dug it out.
Let's see the lightning bug! If it's half as cool as the cicada, I want to see it

Interesting question. It is a mix of Lane RLP-6, a smidge of Maryland and Turkish, with a bit of Cherry. The bend has quite a bit of Cavendish in it due to the RLP-6 and Cherry and it has been my experience that Cavendish is not a tobacco that ages all that well. When fresh, it is a delight. I made extra batches of it due to Sutliff's closing - they were my source for Maryland, Turkish, and the Cherry. This is an older batch from 2021. I was going to hold off smoking the majority of the batches must later, but now that I see aging doesn't improve it at all, I will be putting it into rotation more regularly. That's a shame, because I certainly enjoyed it when fresh. Thanks for asking.
Sounds like it might be tasty, but yeah, old Cavendish would not improve it or anything else, for that matter.
thanks.

I have only about a quart of Green River cavendish. I believe it was Sutliff. It's actually not bad, it's not flavored at all and it's a decent mixer. Mellows out burly nicely. I wished I had more. But again, no topping or flavoring that I can detect. I'm sure it has lots of sugar but nothing like vanilla or the likes added.

Oh my gosh..... What a gorgeous pipe!!! That stem looks like it is made of butterscotch candy.....
Such a cool blast on this briar.

@Briarcutter , Larry, I've meant to ask you, is there a story behind the small "logo/emblem" that you place on the left side of the stem/mouthpiece of each pipe?

Not really, I just thought it looked cool. It's sterling silver and I got the idea from the old,old Sir Jacopo. They use to have a logo very different, and very cool. Imagine mine without the cross and the center dot red, I've not seen that logo in years. Now the location has a embarrassing story. I use to inlay them dead center till I messed one up. If I'm shooting for dead center and I'm off by .005 or .010 it may not seem like much but to me, it's botched. I had to figure out a way to avoid that. The logo is about the last thing I do on a pipe. Well after all that time making a pipe the last thing I want to do is mess up the logo and have to make a whole new mouthpiece. So now I put it off to the side, looks cool and it's already messed up and looks intentional😂
