Progress report. Same picture, same process. Position of dog is now different than the photo however, and he's sleeping. Old dogs mostly sleep. And did start the day off with a Mad Fiddler perique blast, good 20 minute smoke in a McQueen miniature. With cold coffee. A usual fast morning smoke for me.
Break - ins going very well indeed. The curved Falcon on the left, meershaum lined bowl, is about two smokes away from going into rotation. Being biased for rums, had a good smoke with only a slight mineral taste. Not too much subtle stuff yet, but could tell it was Backwoods and not a generic buttered rum.
Middle pipe, Falcon International with a plain briar bowl, is almost ready to go. Four smokes so far with Smoketr's Pride Whiskey Tobacco, my go to codger. The bowl is now completely covered, and the last smoke tasted pretty good. Needs a bit more carbon, but what a difference a straight, undipped or unvarnished bowl makes. As easy as breaking in a Ropp. I'll put this bowl in rotation for codger days probably on Thursday. That'll give it 4 more smokes.
Large meer (Sunday Picnic) is already starting to tinge brown on the outside of the back of the bowl, and only a very slightly mineral taste now . . . . could definitely taste Sunday Picnic over the brou-hah of the meer taste. Maybe another 4 smokes.
