KBV Byronic Hiro in a Savinelli 707.

I really like this blend despite having too much vinegar. It’s irritating upon lighting and a few puffs thereafter, but it burns off quickly (much more quickly than in Sutliff 515-RC, for example). The payoff is a bright fruitiness over some brown sugar notes, especially in the last half of the bowl.

I cube cut the last half of the plug (after previously only taking a bowl’s worth off the plug at a time) and let it sit out a couple of hours before putting it back in the jar. That has cut down considerably on the vinegar.

Enjoyed a tall stack of cinnamon raisin French toast with a golden delicious apple on the side. I'm half way through this bowl of year 2013 Capstan Blue Flake in a straight 1924 Dunhill’s “Shell Briar” patent pot 7 with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Gold Star Maui Red Catuai, neat, is my drink.

Just had a lovely dinner of vintage cheddar and IPA cheese melt AND a Stilton and fig cheese melt with a lovely baguette and fruity Badger ale. I’ll have to go for an arterial scraping tomorrow to get rid of the cholesterol but it was worth it.
I needed a good full bodied smoke after that so it’s Wessex Burley Slices in the Kaywoodie Connoisseur Dublin and the England Italy football on the box. image.jpg

First bowl today is 2018 Quiet Nights in a Radice Rind Pure Billiard with Bamboo detailing. Hot cocoa on the side on a cold October day. My birthday, in fact. :)

I'm on a pipe smoking sabbatical for dental procedures and other medical considerations, however I enjoy this thread so I can enjoy good pipes and good blends vicariously.

I'm spending all the money I saved during the pandemic by not going to the dentist. I've been to three different dentists: a prothodontist, an oral surgeon, and a general dentistry practice for a cavity and crown. Kudos to all for keeping me comfortable as possible.

Keep up with your dentistry. It's good for your heart and also for enjoying your food.
