It smokes fine through the majority of the smoke the first hour or two, but because the draft hole is at the center of the screw-in bowl, towards the end of the smoke, ash drops down into the base and some condensation from combustion drips into the bottom and can get a bit gurgly.
Flakemaster Jr, (the Peterson 313) and Kendal Mayor Chocolate flake. One nice sip of cocoa taste in the whole bowl.

Maybe try some meer chips...or as someone else suggested...broken up clay pottery. They dont take too much room.

Had a little dried out Thanksgiving Day left over from earlier, so I mixed that with some Five Brothers and loaded up the Boswell.

That's a very good question.....
I have always liked it, but at first I could only smoke one bowl a day of it, even per week. It was very strong to me. Even coming from a chain cigarette smoker. I would get an uneasy stomach feeling after a bowl.
So maybe it's lost some of its oomf that kept me at bay!
Not far from finishing this bowl of early 2000s Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Still raining, but three ferals were waiting for food, and I gave them extra. Watching Mad Dog Russo. Ice water and bergs is my drink.
Coniston Cut Plug in an Ozark Mountain Briars cutty. This is one of the best-smoking pipes that I own.
