Yet another bowl of “Derriston” (Coniston Cut Plug and Derringer) in a straight stem Falcon with a Bantam semi blasted Genoa bowl. I’m still playing with the ratios, but the two together are really delicious. Some cheap brandy to wet my whistle.
how do you combine these? just take a pinch or so of each to put in bowl, or do you mix them together, press 'em, age 'em, etc and then try it?

Wifey is out w/the horse. I have been saddled (no pun intended) with the responsibility of tending to the loaf of homemade bread rising in the kitchen. Doesn't take an Einsteinian intellect to deduce which activity I chose to pass the time...

Sutliff Uno (sample) in my La Rocca Due (DOO-way) bent billiard. Bird report: California scrub-jay, Steller's jay, White-crowned sparrow, Chipping sparrow, Northern flicker, White-breasted nuthatch, Mountain chickadee, Oak titmouse, California towhee, California thrasher, Common raven, Ring-necked dove, Hairy woodpecker, and a female Acorn woodpecker, the first I've seen here at the house. Still snow on the ground from earlier this week, a la the Simon & Garfunkel song. It's frickin' freezing out here, Mr. Bigglesworth!

Just a handful of each. The Derringer is already a manageable shred, but with the Coniston I cut the flakey strings in to 1/2” pieces and “tease” them a bit. Together they go! The Coniston comes fairly moist and the Derringer fairly dry so the Derriston is ready to smoke. Enjoy!

More Derriston in a Peterson System Standard smooth #313 with a vulcanite p-lip stem. I’ve had this pipe since the 1970’s and it’s an old favorite. I wish more members put their locations in their profiles. Often the advice they receive is contingent on the climate they live in. The tobacco recommendations too are often contingent on availability in their state or country. I’m aware of the dangers of “too much information” on the web, but I think that stating your location enhances your membership. Yeah, I know this should be another thread, but those have, in the past, caused too much controversy.

Not far from finishing this bowl of year 2014 C&D Bayou Morning in a 2021 medium bend black sandblasted Peterson Newgrange 80S bent bulldog silver spigot with a tapered reddish brown with black stripes acrylic stem. Dinner follows this smoke.
